SEC permanently suspends Ken Williamson

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Williamson should have lost his job the day he gave the Barn a free field goal with no time remaining in the 1st half. Yes, this actually happened in 2019…a game that we lost by 3 points…a game that kept us out of the playoffs. In case you can’t tell, I don’t have any sympathy for him. Jason Autry should be next for keeping us out of the playoffs in 2022.
TBC, I'm not defending him or other crews. I definitely think there should be consequences for these kinds of critical mistakes.

My issue is, if we start down this road, will there be any official crews left? They all make mistakes and sometimes they make mistakes that cost a team a game.* But, officiating at all levels is difficult and will never be without mistakes.

*I don't think the mistakes in the AU/GA game cost the Barn a win. It affected the score, but the barn stunk up that game with terrible play. Their complaint about the OK game is more legitimate.

You are correct. I still want to know why the replay crew isn't under fire. They have to power to overturn just about anything, so even if the ref makes a bad call on a reviewable play, they can fix it. There will always be human error in refereeing a game. Did Ken actually make the call on the fumble, or did replay make it.

That would fall squarely on the replay officials... 😎

I had exactly the same question...
