Just because of his track record, most of my friends would say something along of the lines of "He'll be gone in 5 years!" I'd always say if he can get us a few SEC titles, and a National Championship in that 5 years, I'd be good with that. It's been a long 5 years...........

I wasn’t.

I was on my way to (wait for it) Greek 3 at the seminary and the shocking bombshell by Bob Picozzi on “Mike and Mike”.....I began pounding the steering wheel and screaming much less than holy language I will confess.

I don’t know if I was ever angrier over Tide football than that instinctive reaction. I’m thinking “Spurrier or Saban and we get THIS blankety blank?”

But IIRC it was actually coming apart by the time I headed home for lunch.

Rich Rod was a perfect example of a making a coach.

I did a semi deep dive on him years ago. He won all those games because all the good teams left his conference.
