I know many teams don't, so I was wondering what the general opinion was.

I understand the team concept, but why do you think we have them, and why do you think other's don't?

Opinions are welcome.

I like to know who is playing out there. It's hard to remember each and every player's number.
Have you ever watched a Penn State game? Most of the players look the same. Yes, you can differentiate between a running back and a nose guard.

I think we should go back to old school and take them off. It would be nice to get the one team-one heartbeat back instead of 85 individuals. I have noticed the past 10-12 years that we give too much credit/blame to individuals instead of just saying Bama. I know alot of people will disagree with this post but its just my thoughts.:BigA:

I like the idea of putting the name of the school on the back of the jersey as an object lesson that the team is one and ALL represent the same thing; in this case, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.:BigA: :BigA: :BigA: :BigA:

In some aspect I agree with you. In others it is wrong to blame the full defence for one players ability to get beat on the long ball.
As fans who pay money to view our team do we not have a right to know who we are cheering for.

on the other hand if they did not have their names on the jerserys, more money would be spent by fans being forced to buy a player guide so they will know who is on the field.

I know that as a child I used to dream of seeing my last name on the back of that jersey. The guys who wear that Crimson Jersey have paid and are currently paying a high price to wear it. They should have their names on the back of it.

I don't particularly care either way. Personally I like the names, but if they weren't there, I wouldn't miss them either.

The one argument I do like is the "TEAM" remark as that makes more sense for not having them than any other I've read.

I don't know ... pros and cons for each way ....Why were individual names added to jersey anyway? Anyone know? Personally, I would be lost w/o an "I.D." on back but guess we could just call the number! :BigA:

That is what high schools do when they want to have something on the back of their jerseys and can't afford to put names and replace them every year.

I think it's names or nothing on the back, one of the two...Oklahoma took the names off this year and it looked and worked pretty well...

Plus, everyone at this board can tell you the numbers of just about every starter on offense and defense...the reserves on the other hand:conf3:

I say YES! I HATE HATE HATE the way Penn State's uni's look.

I say we should have a throw back game where they would honor one of the NC teams and wear their uni style from that season. It would keep all you old school guys happy and look pretty cool ONE game a year.:BigA: :BigA:

We did it at my HS for the team thing and as a coach that is why I have done it in the past. If I had a budget as big as Bama's I would still not put my player's names on the back of their jerseys.

I think it was Patton, or George C. Scott as Patton, that said, "Now, an army is a team - it lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This individuality stuff is a bunch of crap."

I think we did that last year for the last four NC's every game.

Has our uniform changed much at all since the late 60s or early 70s? I do NOT think so.:BigA: :BigA: :BigA: :BigA:
