Site Upgrades!

Guys, there are some things I can control and others I can't. I'm working on re-incorporating some of the things I can control. The site is not that drastically different, layout wise. It may appear so right now, but it's not really (at least to me it's not). Obviously there are some changes that were made due to the nature of the new software. The left and right sidebars and a better top menu will come back as will some background color-tweaking. However, the location of buttons, and the general layout of the forum will pretty much stay the same. If you can be very specific about things you don't like maybe I can address them more specifically. However, the only thing I guarantee is that will will continue working hard to build out the best site we possibly can given our resources.




Did you put not your glasses on or did you drink too much? Seriously, everything looks normal on my end, but I'll look at the config settings just to make sure.

Ran into the doorframe and broke my glasses while going to the fridge to get another adult beverage. I also poked myself in the eye as I was putting in my contact lens (to replace my broken glasses). Now that my eyes are wide open, I really do like the new format. And I do appreciate all the hard work that went into the new format. That being said, the avatar's on my screen are still blurry.

Thanks and I'm looking to see what it might be . could be a setting in your browser but could also be site config setting on our end.

ALSO, thanks to RazedRite for providing our new logo ! Looks good ! (some of you may have to do a manual refresh / cache clear to see it).

Sometimes on my computer at home it will not keep me signed in. I hit the remember button, but it doesn't always work. The computer I'm on right now seems to be doing fine. It may just be that one computer.

We've had some others say the same thing. I'm looking to find info about what might be the issue. Should keep you logged in for AT LEAST 60 minutes from your last activity. You might have to change one of your cookie settings in your browser.

First, thanks to Brett and everyone who makes this site possible and "free." I love it.

I've read this entire thread and I've hightlighted below my questions and/or suggestions, but first the main thing I'd request is for the FONT to be larger and/or bolder. Seems smaller to me than before.

Site looks great. I'm missing the shaded numbers to know which page to go back to pick up reading (like megathread, I usually go to last page and back up to last shaded number). Obviously not a big deal if that's gone, thanks for an excellent site! RTR!

Yes, I'm missing this feature too.

I never sign out but now when I come in, I have to sign in. I don't like that. I hope that feature is changed back to the waY it was.

I'm having to sign in every session too. Bright side is I've memorized my password, but would prefer not to have to do that each time.

I don't know if I'm missing it, but I liked having the bar across the top with links where you could go to the other forums. Basically, when I'm on the football board, I want to be able to go directly to the recruiting board (and vice versa) with one click.

I liked that one too, especially the bar across the top after the crash and before the major overhaul.

I'm a "free apps" guy and I've noticed several are using this. Haven't tried it cause I didn't want to pay for it and then not like it. What is Tap A Talk and how does it improve accessing TideFans on a mobile device?

Thanks! I'll try to address several of your questions/concerns:

font size: could be smaller but looks same to me. However, I'm looking at a couple of options that might help.

shaded numbers: not promising anything but I'll see if i can do something similar

logout/timeout: I'm looking to see what the deal is here.

top menu: something very similar will return ... maybe even tonight

tapatalk: new version will come back soon. however, I expect to have a dedicated i-phone app soon.

I had this issue too and found the "REMEMBER ME" box and now it's not an issue. Not sure if that's what you are referring to.

Tap A Talk is an app that is 2.99 and is worth its weight in gold. It allows youto access all of the Tidefans forums and gives you a super easy to read format that the internet browser doesn't. It also allows you to group your threads into those you particpate in or those with the most recent responses.

GET IT!!!

I hope you can get the shaded page numbers back cause I really do miss them. I still can't find that TideFans Style anywhere at bottom, top or side.

I like to search by username...like trying to find Earle's post in the megathread. Old format would bring up a users first sentence or so in the thread. Now all I see is the thread and then have to search within that. Don't know if that makes sense, and it's prob just me....but I like the old format for search better so far.

I must say that the only thing I didn't like about Tidefans.com was the format. It just looked dated, and it wasn't very user-friendly. I'm really digging the new format.

I really like the preview thread feature that automatically pops up. Dis boards had that feature that I leaned on while vacation planning to weed through a mountain of threads...not that I'm saying there are bad threads here :biggrin2:, but I do like that feature. Thanks again ya'll.

One of the oddities is when I cursor over my name it says I am offline. In fact we are all offline, LOL.

I assume this new software is a result of the malware issue we had a few weeks ago.
