Smelley news on FOX 6

Fox 6 in Birmingham had a story that Chris Smelley, a QB from American Christian and backup at South Carolina, and his parents had inquired how to transfer to UA if need be. It was on the 6 o'clock edition.

South Carolina apparently is recruiting another quarterback this year. Smelley might be just trying to cover his bases if he falls down the depth chart.

I've thought about that scenario a time or two since Spurrier's name surfaced. Would be ironic for him to wind up here after all.

That is interesting. NBC in Montgomery's sports anchor contacted the USC AD and inquired about whether or not they had been contacted by UA regarding Steve Spurrier. He said they replied - no comment and they were not inclined to discuss the status of personnel right now.

A QB thinking about a transfer does not excite me. Why would he know whether SOS is leaving or not at this time. There hasn't been a team meeting yet at SC has there. So SOS surely would not have told some players (if he is planning on leaving) outside of a team meeting would he?

A reliable rumor source told me that USC is to have a team meeting tomorrow night re: bowl game. I did not think that the bowls would be decided until Sunday. Anybody else have info?

It'll probably be similar to our team meeting: practice schedules and things like that leading up to a bowl game.

Take it or leave it. I saw it. I reported it on here. I did not hear it at 900 and have not heard it again at 930. I would not just make up stuff to post. That would be stupid and useless. I do not know why it has not been reported again. I am sorry if you think I am a liar, but I am not.
