We all remember the convo that Nick and Kirby had before the SEC game. Kirby said “thanks for all you’ve done for me.” So it’s obvious it was their last time squaring off and Kirby knew. Since then I’ve suspected that Nick was retiring at the end of the year. FWIW do you think Kirby knowing means anything?

If Kirby knew, then I suspect a deal is already done with someone. Kirby wouldn't know before Greg Byrne.

I think there is alot of respect between them...............all of Saban's assistants have spoke in glowing terms about what he did for them and their career

We went to the first home game this year (we don't make it to many and the last one was several years ago) and I noticed that the stadium cups had nothing but pictures of CNS celebrating after a championship. I initially thought that was odd, but maybe everyone in the AD office knew this was going to happen and that was a sort of "celebration" of CNS for the entire year. I could be completely off and they may be same cups that were sold last year, but still thought it was odd.

If in fact it was an ode to CNS, then surely there has been a plan in place. Hell, I would think that GB would have started putting a plan together after the last championship thinking CNS would/could leave out on top.
