this team is not making the playoffs at all.

IDK we won a WS and divisional race we had no business winning because AA got a good TD haul that covered up all of our decencies. So it is possible, but with an expanded playoff format there are far less sellers. At this point I would just focus on seeing what money I can get to make a competitive offer for Fried after the season. Start selling pieces. Right now Sale winning the Cy Young should be our biggest season goal because it’s the only realistic one we got.

Big differences between then and now. Freddie was hitting the cover off the ball at the time, our current 1st basemen would have to improve to become terrible. Riley was hitting then, not so much now. Our SS at the time was inconsitsent but got hits when he needed to get hits. Our catcher then was getting hits. This team is bad and they should feel bad.

At the end of the day… our best hitter is Ozuna. That’s never a good sign. I think Olsen and Riley are just having a bad year that they can’t get out of. It happens and they will probably be better next year it just sucks that they both are bad at the same time. Arcia clearly isn’t the answer at SS and we are hoping Nacho turns it on sooner than later. But really expecting much from him is a big ask.

I think 90% of our outfield problems are Harris and Acuna not being there. Kelnic is serviceable but he isn’t a one man show.

Pitching is where this is so infuriating. We have what we have wanted for years in that we have a true 4 armed monster but Strider going down and Fried constantly finding his way to the IL is really what is hurting us badly. I think we have good prospects but they just shouldn’t be forced to get their brains beat out of them like Snitker allows them to do. At some point you do way more damage than good letting someone get shelled because you want them to go through twice. Especially when our offense is lucky to score 3 runs a night.

A lot of this season is about injuries. There is just no denying it. But a good amount of it also is coaching. We are losing alot of games because we are making stupid steals, dumb squeeze plays, and stupid errors. You are really seeing horrible fundamentals from veteran players. It’s like Snitker no longer has the talent to cover up his dumb mistakes.

This season should open the eyes of the Snitker defenders. I have always said, and others around here, that the team won the WS in spite of Snitker, not because of anything he did. He's not a good manager. He's still making all the same stupid decisions he has always made but this year's team is not able to cover for him.

A great manager may not have this team in a place to overtake the Phillies but, they would be able to motivate the guys better and just have a more positive atmosphere around the clubhouse. Snit's "oh well, it is what it is, attitude is infuriating.

Fire Snit, re-hire Washington!

I’ve said for years Dusty Baker might’ve been the most over criticized managers of all time because of the 03 NLCS and a WS that got away from him. But the guy has always knew how to use talent. You really could argue that had he had Verlander or Mcculers up in 21 and a few things bounce his way in last year’s ALCS then it’s likely he has 3 WS in a row. That really highlights how winning a WS as a manager is a total crapshoot and even the most idiotic managers like Roberts and Snitker can backdoor into one based on talent alone.

Snitker has reached a whopping 2 NLCS’s yet has won the East 6 times with home field advantage on 4 of those trips. Criticize Bobby Cox all you want but he consistently was in the NLCS with a mediocre lineup and a horrible bullpen. Snitker’s had a pretty good starting core, an elite bullpen, and an elite lineup pretty much every year on this run but struggles to get out of the NLDS. The Yankees want to can Boone every year with pretty much the same resume as Snitker outside of a really fluke WS run. Yet Atlanta fans hardly utter a word against Snit.

I don't think there is any question that Cox could manage way better than Snitker.

Bobby made it to 5 World Series.

He gets grief for only winning the 1 but it's not easy to make it to a World Series.

Even if he had gone 0 for 5 what he did in the 90s is waaaaaaay more impressive than anything Snitker has done.

ESPN says Braves are biggest loser this year in the free agent game:

espn.com said:
Maybe the Braves just don't see this as their season, or maybe the market didn't break their way. The bottom line is the same either way: The Braves didn't do much to improve themselves, and most of the other leading NL wild-card contenders did.
I tend to think they're looking at it as we're a 0.500 team with our depleted roster and this isn't the year so we're not going to spend. They may still make the playoffs but it's going to be a stretch.

I agree with espn. Never thought I would ever type that.

They went and got a 2nd DH and a relief pitcher that I still refuse to call him by his name.

I'm not sure how much difference it would have made this year but it looks like on paper we should have never traded Wild Bill to the Brewers.

He's been about 2.5 times better than Travis in the same amount of games.

I still can't believe we picked up another DH when we have Ozuna already and he's the best bat on the team.

Our whole organization took stupid pills this year apparently.

Luke Jackson strikes again. So glad we got him back…
The truth is that we gave up a long time ago and blaming one player is just not enough at this point. Harris and Acuna's injuries were early enough to set up proactive trades but AA must have some super faith in what is in Pearl and Gwinnett because not even getting Chisolm is just plain criminal at this point. The Phillies are imploding and we arent winning games to make it hurt them. Really as bad as we have been this year with injuries we should be up 3 games on the Phillies with their bad July and August showings. Most of our loses are late dumb losses or games where our bats couldnt hit water if they fell out of a boat.

Honestly I think the only fix is tell Snitker to retire, promote Weiss, and get another GM. Lets face it.... 2021 was the flukes of flukes and all it did was provide legitimacy to people that were bad at their jobs. I think losing twice in a row to the same team and probably missing the playoffs with a team this loaded would get the whole coaching staff and GM's office fired at most serious organizations.

Unfortunately the talk seems to be that Snit plans to stay through the end of his contract in 2025, then retire. When the trade deadline passed without any truly significant moves by AA, then it was “if we make playoffs, okay. If we don’t….oh well….

I was listening to the Braves Pre-Game yesterday while doing yard work. Even with the Braves win on Saturday, it seemed even they (Dimino and McAlpin I think) were pretty much resigned to almost a “we’re playing the string” attitude.

I can imagine the post game after the Rockies seven run 8th inning was probably like this…
