I was born in Fort Worth. I moved to Alabama when I was 3 and lived there for 18 years. The years from Bryant until Stallings. A great Alabama family took us in and I have been a fan since childhood. The first player I remember was Ozzie Newsome. I moved back to Fort Worth for some family obligations but have always been a Tide fan. Texas fans are entitled and obnoxious. Even more so after last year.
Meh. You can find such fans in any fan base.
Even within the Bama base, unfortunately.

I live in UGA territory.
Going in to the SEC CG last year, a number of UGA fans around here were guaranteeing a 3peet, and possibly more.
They insisted we were witnessing a historic dynasty in the making.

Afterwards, not so much.

I know that I am new here but, if I may ask, what would this special designation mean if either OU or UTahas comes in and wins the CG a couple of times in the next 4 to 5 years? Would their championship be marked as something less because they are a newcomer to the conference? Would that mean that they were somewhat "gifted" the championship because they are new? I don't see a good point in doing that personally.

Georgia fans were insufferable well before they ever won anything. I lived there in the early 2000s, and they're a big part of the reason why I hate Georgia worse than Auburn, Tennessee, or LSU.

I wish we wouldn't have allowed Texas and OU in, in the first place. Not a fan of conference expansion, not unless we get a guarantee that the SEC will get 4 teams in the playoff. We play a tougher schedule than everybody else, so its gonna be a major problem if we get less than 4

I’m not saying it has to be anything super significant. Just something like an SEC legacy patch that honors the schools who have made this conference what it is. For years we had better recruiting than Texas because we could tell kids they would be playing in the best conference. We have literally given that advantage away.

It’s not a big deal but I just feel like it should matter that some teams have spent almost 100 years building this brand and we are letting a team in that has destroyed the last two conferences they were in with all the privileges and prestige we have built. I just think there should be a way to acknowledge the difference.
I think you are giving UTa too much credit. The SEC isn't going to bow down to them the way the big 12 did.

SEC is an equal share conference. Vandy gets the same money as Alabama in terms of payout.

Yeah, I can't see TX having any kind of outsized influence in the SEC (aside from perhaps NIL money but that's a school specific issue right now).

They're just another team now.

And what does this special designation mean, accomplish, or do for the founding schools? Georgia is a founding state of the United States of America. Alabama is not. Are we 2nd class citizens because of that?
Did the Free State of Winston at least survive long enough to stock Sewanee's roster from the transferred allegiance portal?

You haven’t been paying attention to past history. After a while it will start with why is Vanderbilt getting as much as we do. Next it will be we have office space in Dallas that would be great for a league office. And then how about we play the conference championship in Houston. I’ve seen this act before.
