Spencer Pennington to start & >>>

Well their game against #8 Cal was postponed because of the Hurricane this season so that would have already been an L, the teams they beat last season after we beat them were South Fla, La-Lafyette, Houston, Tulane, TCU, and East Carolina, and then the were shut out but Utah in the Liberty Bowl!!!! I have faith we'll win this one!!!!!

:biga2:

I too believe we will win this one. There is a lot riding on it. Sort of a strange thing to say at only #24, but Southern Miss may be one of the most overrated teams in the polls. I also like the way we match up -- we like to run and they are vulnerable to it; the fellow they are starting at qb is the one we forced from the game last year. Hudson is gone, but I'm confident in those behind him, especially Darby and Castille. I hope the team feels like it has something to prove to the fans at home after the SC showing. I will never get past the belief that we should have won that game.

Southern Miss will be without their starting quarterback this game because of a Hamstring injury.

Can their backup beat us?

Anything to give this team a shot at winning.

Our passing has been a complete joke this year and needs to get better if we want to beat USM.

This is the truth people: If our QB doesnt pick up the pace against USM, we will NOT WIN.

I hope you won't be too disappointed if the Tide wins.

No, I would be a bit surprised if we just came out and ripped USM as many predict though.

If our QB play improves, as it could....we should win. If not, we won't...USM is no cupcake.

I am realistic in the Tide...and some, like yourself, have nothing better to do then think of myself as some Anti-Bama person because you can't think of anything better to say when someone points out the obvious criticisms.

edit:what passing we did do last week was decent.Pennington seems to keep improving, and he better prove it this week. Our defense will OWN usm though....

Their backup QB was the starter last year.

Until they played us.

Bower had to pull him and replace him with Almond.

He couldn't beat us as the staer, when he was getting all the reps.

I don't see that changing now that he's coming off the bench.

I was just wondering where you were coming from. Most of your posts that I read last night were a tad on the negative side. I agree with your assessment that our QBs need to do more in our offense for us to beat UT, LSU, or AU. But I really think that if we get the same level of productivity against USM that we got against UK we will win this one. Bottom line -- winning this week doesn't rest solely on the performance of our QB. If we don't stop ourselves with turnovers or penalties, and if we don't give them the ball deep in our own territory, then we should have a good game offensively.

I love the tide, but USM is ranked, and we are not even concidered in rankings, If the Tide wins it will be an upset, even with their 2nd QB, we are on our third, and 2nd QB and TB respectively.

Having said all that it comes down to execution and mistakes, we beat Kentucky mainly because we executed, and didn't make mistakes, if we play like that against USM I think we win. We turn the ball over and I can guarantee you another bitter loss.

Just trying to prepare everyone. This will be a 60 minute game unless the other team just quits, which is unlikely.

I agree. Yes, Spencer improved over his performance against SC, but considering how poorly he played in that game, it would be hard NOT to improve over that performance.

We still have a way to go. Even factoring in BCs games, we are last in the SEC for passing and 112th nationally.
