As one who had to write and speak weekly, I love your creative use of metaphors. I've never, ever heard this one...
That was a 13 year old city boy working in the country. The first thing I learned was to check for Red Wasp's. I learned what the shovel was far on a Chicken Farm. (I was Farmed Out to a great Uncle) The Outhouse was 100 yards down from the sharecropper cabin that 6 boys shared.
Great Uncle Virgil and Aunt Sadie Belle had 6 huge Chicken houses and about 1000 acres of Corn.
After working there I was glad to see school start back.
