What I want to know is the referee's name who assigned himself as Watson's personal valet last night. It seemed every time Watson got knocked down that ref was running over there to help him up. I don't think I have ever seen that before. I know it is minor and I can understand once but I never saw him helping Jake up. Maybe he did; I don't know.
Or what pics Dabo has of the line judge on his side in the first quarter. 4 blatant off sides and he calls one?

Don't have any link or way to substantiate this but on JOX this morning they said Coach Saban's and Coach Bryant's 100th wins at Bama both came against Clemson.
It was actually in an ESPN article last week. It was one of the many detailing the links between Clemson football and Alabama. I believe Coach Bryant was friends with one of Clemson's coaches that had played at Bama and scheduled them 4 years in a row. I believe his 100th victory came in the first matchup of the 4 (at Clemson).

I will try to find the article, but I was telling a buddy of mine about it last night when ESPN showed the graphic regarding CNS 100th at Alabama.

I also thought that was odd and wondered if it was a pac 10 thing where the refs try to help speed up play. I also found many spots troubling. Ours were consistently about a half yard short; whereas, their spots were a half to even a full yard long at times. It was clear, and I am not a conspiracy guy who blames refs much. I think referee error is part of the game, but this was clear at times last night. There was one in particular where the ref marked a 9 yard gain and then suddenly signaled to another ref that they could mark it a first down and move the chains. It was a yard short, but they gave it to them. We had one Henry run that was a half yard past the marker and was marked a half yard short. I am wondering if I was just tense or if I will notice the same thing when I watch again. Anyone else notice this?

The spots were horrible all night, they royally screwed up the clock at the end of the first half, and they were inconsistent calling holding and PI. When a 6ft 4 man has half his body over the line, he got the first down. And Coker scored before Henry did. The crew we had for the cotton bowl was much better. In fact, the umpire for this crew seemed really nervous calling the game. But maybe that's just me.

Another "lost" story line from last night / the season -

The Tide lost 9 of 11 starters on offence from last year.

Incredible...

Guaranteed the story line least likely lost on the team was Kenyan Drake's kickoff return - on which he carried not just the football past the pylon, but resilience and redemption and his teammates' highest regard with him. Play of the game spiritually, in a game full of 'em.

Clemson also got an extra down. They were 1st and 10 and had pass incomplete and then a penalty what should have been 2nd and 15 was 1st and 15.

Thank you. I noticed these things as I was yelling at the the Screen. I looked at my wife early on and said "this will be one of those nights we have to beat Clemson and the Refs".

Noticed that as well.

The pi's are judgment calls though. Spots and extra downs are not. I questioned aloud about the extra down...since the ref announced it to the crowd. He even said "the down counts...second down". Then there were the 3 off sides no calls...and they weren't judgment calls either.

Yeah and on Henry's play his but landed on the first down line and they marked the ball half a yard short. They got the first down on the next play but geeze.
