Stopping Trump's Move Toward Authoritarianism

I don't disagree with you but Trump is becoming very unpopular and at the same time the US economy is faced with two tremendous headwinds that will impact millions of us. One is the national debt ... many fewer customers for our debt at any price driving the cost of servicing the debt to rise precipitously. This has a lot to do with the historic decline of the US Dollar. That combined with tarriffs will drive prices up on foreign goods that just aren't available within the US and they are numerous.

Put all of that together and there isn't any escape from stagflation. Couple that with Canada and Western Europe, Australia and Japan taking their purchases elsewhere particularly defense systems will impact high paying jobs and drive up the cost to our Defense Department.

Rural America and Agriculture, a primary Trump support, are being hit by much greater competition for their products and consumer substitution away from them. That deserves its own topic.

Those economic theorist who have guided Trump away from the years of Globalism into Tarriffs don't appear to know much about how things are grown or manufactured or where the components are available in the world of 2025-26. It has led us into a huge economic problem that will impact every one of us.

Presidents like Jimmy Carter and GHW Bush were tossed out for much less.

Yep. Rural Iowa farmers helped deliver IA in last November's election. My crocodile tears as they now complain that the Chinese aren't buying their soybeans. Enjoy the ride, dudes! This is what you wanted.

Another figment of the MAGA Sound Machine.

But if you mean anti-fascist, my Dad fought the bastards in Europe 80 years ago. Now they are on our shores, and nobody on the right seems to give two craps about it. As long as they can say they are p0wning the libs.
Mine, too. Technically, I suppose that made him and everyone who fought against facists "Antifa". Because the big orange rump has somehow come up with the notion that there is actually a group called "Antifa", these people buy in.

Mocking and being dismissive of the violence and racism by the left towards my wife and friends and the racist policy I see every day is par for the course. Interesting tribalist bubble you've constructed, when reality is considered the boogeyman. And Biden's mental decline was just a stutter, right? Go tribe!
Here's the thing. I hate that this happened to your wife or to anybody. Why do you think it was from "the left"? I'm genuinely asking this question. I'm decidedly left wing and wouldn't advocate for or participate in such terrible, not to mention illegal, actions. And no, Biden's mental decline was just that, a mental decline. Rump is experiencing it right now but many refuse to see it. Biden would not have been my first choice for President but I would never in a million years have voted for trump. I'd had enough of his crud long before he ever ran and I know too many people who'd had to deal with it. He genuinely is a terrible, self centered jerk who does not care who he hurts. He will do anything to get what he wants.

Look, you dont do all the Republicans and Trump are doing now with even the thought that an election might throw you out of power or the same tactics be used against you by the opposing party.

They want to foment an insurrection so they have a guise to extend their power.

all they have to do is just lie about an insurrection and folks will fall over themselves to defend it. we’re seeing it happen now in realtime

Hope in one hand...
Yeah, I'm not expecting much. Trump had some sort of roundtable discussion about Antifa yesterday. The media was present. Some of his administration was present. But for a discussion about "terrorists" I think it's quite telling that Homeland Security was NOT present. Neither was the newly re-named "Department of War." Interesting omissions, I must say.

He's' made the White House press pool into a bunch of lackeys who never seem to hold his feet to the fire on anything.

I love good conspiracy theories, but I'm starting think this one has merit: All of this "Antifa" stuff, the government shutdown, sending US troops to cities that don't need them, sending gunboats into Venezuela, various incoherent comments on the war in Ukraine.......is it an attempt to keep the Epstein list out of the news?
