Tennstud is coming on Finebaum next

Lol, he actually said that.
I've heard he's slimy and he sounds like it. He mostly said a whole lot of nothing. The only thing I got out of it was that the trustees were initially split on Kiffin and he was Hamiltons guy. Now all the trustees are ticked at MH because of the mess that is Kiffin, and are looking to replace him with Fulmer, after MH hires the new coach.

Finebaum kept asking who they were going after but he kept rambling on about nonsense mostly but did mention the Air Force coach and Edsall at UConn.

Roy said that the new coach needs to be a good recruiter because Tennessee has fewer blacks than Alabama and Georgia....
I'm almost certain that's an incorrect statement. However, black, white or purple, TN sucks at turning out Div I. talent. MS most certainly has fewer blacks (lot fewer people) than TN and turns out huge quantities of Div I talent, because FB is an important factor in the MS culture, as it is in AL. My lord, the man lives in Memphis. Has he not even opened his eyes and looked around? In the end, it's the same - he eternally measures his mouth with his foot...

He said that TN was "only" 16% black, that most of those were in Memphis and were burdened with poor academics and bad football programs.

Well, it's a bit more than 17%, and where does he think our inner city kids are? Because of the larger population, TN has about .98 million persons identifying as "black" to the US gov census. AL does have bit more - about 1.2 million, all whom must live in athletic facilities. Where his argument gets knocked into a cocked hat is that MS has a total of 1.05 blacks (all numbers appx), and yet turns out twice as many prospects as AL and probably three times the total of TN. I guess those kids over in MS must be living in the lap of luxury. Let's face it - the total numbers of minority population are really quite close and there is really no major difference in living conditions, etc. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that the average income per capita for blacks living in TN is higher than AL, and certainly than in MS. Like Orgeron, his facts are a bit "iffy."

I agree. Black, white, tan, whatever doesn't make a difference when playing football.

Some of our best players were "white boys" like Mike Johnson, Colin Peek, Drew Davis, etc. MJ is a future all-pro guard in my opinion...and he looks decidedly white to me.

I wonder if this transition finally gets UT? I have always thought they were living on borrowed time in the recent modern era CFB. I know they have storied tradition but if you will review there roster a substantial majority of their roster comes from some other state than TN. I would think in coaching circles that many coaches perceive UT as a difficult program to recruit to because you dont have enough in-state talent to lay the foundation of your program. They can no longer swoop into North Alabama and steal top notch talent, might be able to pick up a few in GA but I would say their impact in FL has diminished as well because of CUM.

Bama has pretty much always been able to go up there and get elite talent.

Tennstud was a real failure in representing TN today. I was a little embarrassed for him at times and I don't even know him and definitely don't like him. If you think his ramblings were weird on radio try reading some of his posts at VolChat. Now, that will make you queasy.
