Texas got a Manning Problem

Arch can’t help it. It is genetics. He inherited the Manning Family Forehead. The extra large forehead exerts excessive downward force on the optic nerves thereby causing problems with depth perception. However it does offer a unique NIL opportunity. Uncle Peyton is stepping in to help.

Here's Jordan Rodgers discussing his throwing mechanics. He says, "It is in his feet". Rodgers says he's "overstriding" and not aligning his feet to where he wants the ball to go.

I tell my baseball players "99% of throwing errors start at the feet". If the feet are wrong just about everything above them gets out of alignment because the other body parts start compensating for misaligned feet or feet that are too wide or too narrow.

Maybe it is more a head game with him right now. Can you imagine the pressure to live up to after everyone has been salivating about him for the past 2 years and they almost gave him the Heisman trophy before the season started.
I was amazed when I saw him throw against Ohio State. His side arm motion essentially slinging the ball is a complete surprise after the enormous build up over the last two years.

I know it's lost on a lot of folks, but I actually feel sorry for the kid. It's not his fault that he has the Manning name NOR that the media hyped him to the point of literally naming him the Heisman favorite before this season even started.

Yet, it's hard to understand why his dad and uncles would have allowed him to develop such bad mechanics. Peyton was a mechanical machine. I wonder if much of it is being driven by Mahomes' side-armed delivery at times. It's like every kid wants to be able to drop their arm angle to hit those kinds of throws now because it looks cool.

Do you think he may be injured? I have no doubt Lagway is for UF.

I’ve seen rumors that he’s playing through an injury and that’s why he has started throwing so sidearm this year.

He might have something like Bryce’s injury in 2022 and that took Bryce’s Deep Ball completely away until the final 3-4 games.

Manning did not look this bad mechanically last year imo.

But his footwork is terrible too and that has nothing to do with his arm.

I think he’s also bad off mentally. Basically he’s close to full on having the Yips.

Moon, I always like your take on things, but I have to say Arch relish the role he's about to play.
I'm sure when he headed to Austin of all places in the country, he wasn't going to shy away from the spotlight.

Excellent breakdown of Manning.

He did lose me a little though when he said Ewers could throw it 80 yards in a phone booth. Any of his deep throws were rainbows, like that TD pass against us in Tuscaloosa to ice the game. As opposed to someone like Milroe who could literally chuck it over half the field and still have some velocity on it.

Tell you the truth, the Manning Brain BigHaid Trust orta get Sark to declare that he's hurt three games into the season, which gives him a medical redshirt year and tacks on another 5M Bevo bucks to his NIL deal, while also injecting him into the ManningCast as integral to Arch's Heisman candidacy rehabilitation ("Go on and win it next year for Uncle Peytie, Arch boy!"). Also can't help wondering what kind of dirge Kurt Cobain coulda reverse-engineered turning the forgotten ode to Grandpa below into "The Ballad of Arch Who?"

Given his lineage, yes, I would have thought the basic QB things would be solid. As state above, there's a reason he sat behind Ewers and it looks like we are seeing it.

Maybe its because he played at a small private school? That doesn't necessarily hold though because Ty came from a private school that was even smaller.
Ty went to Westview high in Martin, TN...Its a 3A public state school. Smaller end in the tn size classifications, but bigger than arch's private school, I believe. " Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee, has a student enrollment of approximately 560 students in grades 9-12, placing it in a medium to large-sized classification for high schools. "

Thanks thought it was public too!

I think by enrollment size, Manning's high school was about twice as big. Classification wise, yes, Ty's would have been a higher classification in a smaller area.

I did find it surprising when talking heads would say over the offseason that his camp said he wouldn’t be leaving early and would be there 5 years most likely. I thought they were protecting him bc he was immature or over protective parents but looks like they knew he was gonna need two whole seasons to get it together.

Their fans say he’s got a rotator cuff but I don’t believe it. I think he’s on perma tilt and is aiming his passes side armed and is panicking throughout. If they don’t do something they’re gonna ruin any promise he had. All that said I wouldn’t be surprised to see him be unrecognizably better next year but he’s cooked this year. If he wasn’t already a millionaire I’d feel bad for him.
