Color me not surprised. As formulaic as modern country is, I have come to suspect that most of it was AI-generated, given the similarities of subject matter (cold beer, tight jeans, Mama's cooking, Jesus, tractors, dirt roads, pickup trucks) and replicated music patterns.

i would also suspect AI to come to dominate other musical genres, especially among those who aren't really that particular about depth and substance to their favorite music.

But I am optimistic that good human-generated music will always be with us. I've posted here before that my YouTube algorithm is always blowing up with new undiscovered talent.

That was 100% what was typed into the prompt.

No Notes

I haven’t been able to listen to current US music in probably 20+ years no matter the genre.

Everything is so unoriginal and derivative and over produced and auto tuned.

My favorite group right now is a South Korean K-Pop Girl Group that I only found because of YT recommending them based off my Hikaru Utada history.

I love a lot of genres of music but US Country isn’t one of them.

I don't know that I could identify a song sung after 2000 beyond that famous Coldplay tune ("Viva La Vida") and "Castle on the Hill" by Ed Sheeran, which I only know because I lived near that castle in the 70s, and the only thing I wanna know is where the country lane he was driving 90 mph down because there ain't any that he could possibly drive that fast near Framlingham (he could on the freeway).

Seriously, I could hear a Taylor Swift song on the radio and wouldn't have the first damned clue who she was. When she became a famous Chiefs fan a few years ago and I was dismissing the loony idea SHE was why ratings were up, I got accused of hating Swift. I said, "I don't know enough about her or her music to have an informed opinion."

Keep in mind that not only was I that guy in high school that used to listen and write out in notebooks what songs were where on the various Top 40 charts (Casey Kasem, Rick Dees, Charley Tuna, even Bob Kingsley)......

but my undergrad is........ in Music..........

I just seriously don't care. Music was important to me a long time ago, but I'm that old guy now who remembers the 80s like they were the 40s.
