I think this is well overdue. I’ve kept quiet for 2 years now on what I’ve seen for the past 6-7 years and it’s just gross mismanagement of talent and contracts.

For Alex… He really makes some weird decisions. On one hand our greatest need for 5 years has been quality starting pitching to fill a 4th spot but he constantly acts as 1) we have enough arms on the farm to get by and 2) cheap experience is better than young and ringless dominators. Yet at the same time he constantly overpays people like Ozuna and quirky guys like Panda and Profar. You win this game by pitching. I honestly don’t know why we don’t go after more quality guys. Because it seems this farm projects rarely work out or are ready when we need them.

Snitker… what hasn’t been said? He has been a good locker room manager but let’s be honest. From 17-22 we won because of massive amounts of young talent. I’m not going to complain as much because we atleast won one WS but the fact that is the only one we reached in that time period is criminal.

Let’s face it… 2021 was a fluke in which every thing went right for us at the Trade Deadline and everything went wrong for the Dodgers in the 2nd half of the season. Alex made 4 great pickups and Fried and the Night Crew was next level down the stretch. But I think we have a far clearer pitcher on both Snitker and Alex since that WS. We have seen the Phillies actually find a legitimate manager and use their wealth in rational ways to compete with us. We have been put out twice by the Phillies and finally relinquished the East to them. It ain’t getting better with Snitker and Alex.

I don't blame Alex as much as some do. His "weird decisions" are mainly because the PTB do not give him any money at all. They are the cheapest owners in all of baseball. If Acuńa's contract was up this year, we would lose him for sure.

Snit needs to be gone. Long overdue. I cannot take anymore of his folksy answers about this team. We actually said "we aren't a bad team, we are a team playing bad." This is 100% not true. We are a bad team. Pitching was supposed to be a strong point for this team and it is the worst thing about this team. The sunshine pumpers on Atlanta radio have finally turned on Snit. Iglesias should be sent to literally anywhere but here. Again long overdue. Who would trade for him though? What could we possibly get? A half a bag of doritos and a PBR?

I’m laughing my rear end off right now. You bring Kimbrel up. He pitches one inning last night, then you send him back down? 😂

Not that I thought Kimbrel was an answer to our bullpen issues, but it just shows how this organization is grasping at straws.

Honestly I would have came up with an agreement for him to leave after 2022. Yes he won a WS in 2021, but it was obvious it was in spite of him. Remember we were up in Game 3 vs the Dodgers with a 3 run lead in the 8th and he trots out Luke Jackson. That costed us a sweep of the Dodgers. Then damn if he didn’t do again in game 6, but someone must have overruled him into putting Matzek in with the bases loaded vs them.

I think whatever good chemistry has left because we are just all around horrible. At this point I would be selling dead weight and seeing what we could get for it. Sale would be the first that I would explore in selling

The team had chemistry in 2021. They don't now.

Kimbrel has now been DFA'd. Meanwhile, Iglesias still has a job.

somebody ‘splain this
Can’t

We are the Oakland A’s of the east coast.

I guess we aren’t the Rockies but that’s not a high bar.

Feels like some of the worse years in the 80s for me.

Back then was like… ‘well at least we have Dale Murphy’.

Well at least we have Acuna and Strider… for now.

We are a Dumpster Fire full of Burning Tires right now.

I think we’re riding this entire season out no matter how bad it gets.

I can barely look at box scores anymore we are sooo bad.
I'm watching idiots on social media who were clearly not around for it bring up the 80s. But that's ludicrous. We DID think in 1980 that we could move forward in the standings and did finish a game above .500. In 1981, we thought we could move towards first, but the strike did us in and Cox got fired. In 1982, the 13-game winning streak was, in all honesty, the only reason we finished first, and we were favorites ONE TIME, in 1983, and the 1984 team was missing Niekro and Butler, Horner came back from his injury too soon, and McMurtry proved to be a one-year wonder.

At no time in the 1980s did we go off as "the Braves are contenders for the World Series" and flop like this. In 1986 and 1987, we played half a season of decent baseball and kept adding older and older players. When we lost the first ten games to start 1988, NOBODY thought we were a potential World Series champion.

The Braves were:
- 1.5 games out on the morning of July 4, 1986 and went 2-14
- 2.5 games out on Father's Day 1987 and went 3-12
- 1.5 games out on Mother's Day 1989 and went 2-11

In all of those cases, the Braves were finished by the All-Star game, but they played over their heads for a bit into the season.

I've mentioned this before but look at the 1987 lineup:
C- Ozzie Virgil, 31 (backed up by 37-year-old Ted Simmons and 32-year-old Bruce Benedict)
3B - Ken Oberkfell, 31 (backed up by 42-year-old Graig Nettles)
LF - Ken Griffey, 37
CF - Dale Murphy, 31

Starters:
Rick Mahler, 34
Doyle Alexander, 36
Charlie Puleo, 32

Reliever:
Gene Garber, 39

I'm not sure the Braves have EVER been serious.

Let me show you something that will absolutely shock you.

1955-62 YANKEES VS 1955-62 BRAVES
1B - Joe Adcock vs Moose Skowron
2B - platoon Braves vs platoon Yankees (Red Schoendiest is a HOFer but caught TB and was done)
SS - Johnny Logan vs Gil McDougald/Tony Kubek (stats favor Gil but he played only 284 at short)
3B - Eddie Matthews vs Andy Carey/Hector Lopez/Clete Boyer
RF - Hank Aaron vs Hank Bauer/Roger Maris
CF - Bill Bruton and others vs Mickey Mantle

LF - Wes Covington vs Elston Howard/others (a wash since Howard's big stats were as a CATCHER)
C- Del Crandall vs Yogi Berra

So you look at the matchups and say....the Braves have the better first baseman, the better second baseman when he's healthy - by far, the shortstop is so close to even it doesn't matter, the third baseman favors the Braves, and the fact is the outfield is pretty much a wash. Yes, Mickey Mantle is an all-time great - who hit TWO HUNDRED TWENTY fewer homers than Hank Aaron did.

So the Braves have the BETTER TEAM in the field, and other than Howard in left the better team at bat. Sure, Berra was better than Crandall.....but Mantle and Berra combined hit 30% fewer home runs.

And I haven't even discussed the pitching staff yet:

Ace:
Whitey Ford vs Warren Spahn -
not even close...

#2 Pitcher
Lew Burdette
vs Bob Turley/Johnny Kucks/Don Larsen/Tom Sturdivant/Bobby Shants
Burdette: 203-144, 3.66 ERA
The 5 Yankees: 414-382, 3.73 ERA

The Braves have the greatest lefthander of all-time, a bona fide Hall of Fame candidate, and behind those two they have Bob Buhl (166-132, 3.55 ERA) and they had an up and coming star they traded who from 1961-64 was one of the best pitchers in the AL, Juan Pizarro.

So let's see.....

- the Braves had the better ballplayers at every position but center and catcher (and second when Red caught TB)
- they had the better pitching staff BY FAR
- and they played in a league where the Dodgers got old and lost Campanella (wreck), Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Duke Snider (all Hall of Famers) and the Giants and Cardinals didn't build until 1962....

YANKEES (1954-62)
Seven World Series
Five championships

BRAVES (1954-62)
Two World Series
One championship
Blew pennant in last week of 1956 season
Blew World Series repeat with 3-1 collapse after 1958 season
Blew pennant to inferior team in two-game playoff in 1959 season

And can you look at the Braves of the 90s and tell me that team isn't good for 3-4 titles?

The brutal reality is that the Braves have NEVER been a serious baseball organization.

Does anyone think Liberty Media would actually hire someone competent?
Nope.

Ted Turner had many flaws, but he hired competent people.
When they failed, he fired them. But it was never personal, he never took out after them in the papers like Steinbrenner did.

Liberty Media just wants a team good enough to keep them in the black.
