Good: OL play was much improved and better disciplined.
Bad: Injuries.
Ugly: The look on opponents' faces when they learn Ryan is only 17 (for 5 more months no less!)

PS: I get the criticism of Jalen on the intermediate route passing (though to be honest, we aren't running that many plays featuring that aspect of the game so far so may be hard to judge fairly) but anyone who can tell me there is a college qb in the country that can be more precise than he was on both TD throws yesterday isn't being objective. Would I like to see long drives that eat clock and wear down defenses -- sure. I don't think long drives and wearing opponents down works so much against UGA or UT or Ohio State. Thus I believe you have to have the long threats like we did with Jameson and Metchie against UGA in the SEC Championship game and didn't have in the National Championship rematch where that was the difference. Not sure how many 10 play 80 yard drives UGA has given up in the last couple of years but I'd bet you wouldn't have to take off your socks to get the count.

This, I’ve had to come to terms that our offenses are not going to look like they have the last 17 years. Our defense is the same. We seem to rotate a lot of players on defense because we know they may have to play a lot of plays.

I'll give him credit - the two TD throws against UW were the best throws he has made in Crimson.

On the offensive style topic, at least IMHO, you have to be able to force the defense to defend the entire field somehow. That means you need some degree of a deep threat, or teams play you shallow, but if all you have is a deep threat, they'll play off a bit and do what USF did and only focus on the deep routes. We have to have something to force defenses to NOT just sit back and play deep, so we either have to have a very good short and intermediate passing game or, an effective run game to keep the D honest. Our best O in ages was 2020, when we had all three levels. Najee kept the run D honest, and we had three WRs who were all threats at all levels of the field, and possession types like Bolden and Forristal, plus a QB who was very accurate and very quick and able to hit short/intermediate/long passes. This team has all those equivalent tools except one.

I think we've made good progress for installing a new coaching staff and completely new and different offensive and defensive systems.

Offense... it isn't run based. It just isn't. I think we will see a very different offense when we have a QB that is more in DeBoer's wheelhouse and can really hum and click on the short and intermediate stuff as well like Penix at Washington the last couple of years. We just need to optimize our playcalling, not run Milroe too much, and get what we can out of our players.

Defense... I like that we seem to be playing a bigger group of players. We will need backups to play going forward with so many games. Tackling needs to pick up, but that will likely come along. I think the biggest keys are getting stops on 3rd down and cutting out the long drives and the DBs have to not get flatly beat. Tennessee will eat our lunch out there. Nice thing... the players are swarming the ball and I haven't really noticed the mass confusion of the last few years where nobody seemed set at the snap.

Nice job so far. We will see how far we've actually come and how good we are in two weeks.

The Good- OL looked light years better today. Milroe wasn’t perfect but is such a dynamic athlete he accounted for 5 TDS today. The defensive line is a beast. Burnip is truly a weapon as a punter. Better focus shown by lack of penalties

The Bad- MLB play needs to be seriously evaluated. Our DBs are getting caught flat footed with eyes locked on the QB as WRs run past them (better QBs will eat us alive). Play calling seems suspect at times on both sides of the ball

The Ugly- please, dear God, never let Fox show another Alabama football game with the these announcers. The injury bug rose its ugly head today and bit us three times
Did you know that Lou Fickle was a former Pro Wrestler. We do now, after being told over 1000 times.

The Good - Offense is better than last year, Defense may be better than last year, Coaches have done a good job of bringing new players along and making them comfortable, OL is better than last year, running backs are better than last year, receivers are better than last year, tight ends are being used more, freshmen are being coached so they can step up and play with confidence, defense has been coached to knock the ball loose.
The bad - Injuries, running Milroe wide time after time and getting stuffed time after time, missed tackles on defense, and not running Miller up the middle when we need a few yards.
The Ugly - More injures, lack of quality backups on the OL, going back to the well when a play is not working, and the effect refs had on a couple of games yesterday inside the SEC.

Probably at 35k or in an airport somewhere
Good - Sitting on the Memorial Union deck overlooking Lake Mendota on a warm, sunny, Friday afternoon, drinking Spotted Cows.

Bad - Wisky student section raucously chanting “#%^! Roll Tide” before the game and into the first quarter. Don’t recall hearing it from Q2 on for some reason.

Ugly - Germie Bernard insulting the “Jump Around” tradition in his post-game interview. Hope CKD exacts some sort of discipline for that…

I really don't think CKD's offense is built for 9 play drives. We are averaging about what his Washington Team as far as TOP from last year at around 30 minutes. Some of that comes from the fact that we are turning run plays into long run plays and JM throws a nice long ball. The offense is built around Jalen's strengths.

Actually, this offense is designed to dink and dunk down the field, with the occasional long pass to keep defenders honest. What we have seen through 3 weeks this year does not resemble his offenses prior to this season.

We'll know in 2 weeks what one of the better defensive minds in the game will do to try and shut us down.

Won't be 2 spies on every play, I'd bet he brings a lot more pressure this time.

UGA was missing 3 defensive linemen vs Kentucky from what I heard on the broadcast. Kentucky didn't have the horses to take advantage.

A few things I noticed vs Wisconsin that were much better:
1. Milroe's reads of the DE on the zone reads. If that continues to improve, that's a huge deal.
2. Milroe hit those 2 nice deep TD's. The timing on those two throws were better than anything I've seen from him before.
3. Having a healthy starting 5 on the OL was huge.

Not having an intermediate passing game though....makes it easier for a team like UGA to defend simply because we aren't using the whole field to force them to defend the whole field.

I guess we'll see. I think Jalen's ability to run and draw the defense negates the need for the intermediate game. He's really effective in scrambling and making the secondary commit to either staying home or drawing them to cover the run so he can flip it out to a back. He sort of acts like PG because of his wheels. He's a 3D man - Drive, Draw and Dish.

The Good: The OL improvement and the offense seems to be able to move at will when they want to.
The Bad: The interior DL seems to be getting pushed around...too many rush yards.
The Ugly: The offensive play calling seems too vanilla. Maybe holding back with GA coming to town.

This offense doesn't resemble what he ran at UW with Penix, but I think it is what we will see for the remainder of this year. CKD has tweaked his offense to fit the abilities of JM, rather than trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.

I'm talking about plays over the middle. Crossing routes, slants. Not a screen to the sideline that the RB or WR turned into a 10 yard gain.

That whole part of the field over the middle is not being used with any consistency, which makes it just a little easier for a good defense to defend what we're doing.

Granted, DeBoer has tailored the offense to fit what Milroe does and not do what he can't do or what he hasn't done to this point. Curious to see how that plays out vs a team with the athletes to match us.

UGA has always had that one Achilles heel....deep threat WR's. Can that be exploited by the DeBoer/Milroe offense that leaves the middle of the field unused? We shall see.

Side note....26 and 23 are considered explosive plays I believe. Isn't anything over 20 yards considered explosive?

This was addressed during the game by Joel Klatt. He said our offense will not look like UW's offense but more like his offenses at Sioux Falls and Fresno State. Milroe fits more of what he had at those two stops than Michael Penix. Next season, it may look different than this year, who knows? But Klatt said CKD takes his personnel and builds an identity around the personnel, not the other way around.

Cruloc is right. JM starting to run with more decisiveness helps some for sure, but he's yet to show the 3D ability you mention. Right now it's either Run with a IZR/OZR concept, or pass, and those passes are typically deeper down the field. He's not yet running the RPO, and he's not consistent with the short passing game that the RPO features to force the D to defend all three levels of the field.
