The Good, the Bad and the Ugly…. Vol style:

Saban was able to reign it in.

So far, DeBoer has not shown he can.
Did he? Could he? There is a reason he left and it wasn’t because he got tired of coaching ball.
Deboer played for a title at Washington less than a year ago, so I don’t think he’s lost how to coach. There is a cancer in our locker room and even Saban couldn’t get rid of it.

Good: the defense was pretty darn most of the day

Bad: offensive execution and penalties

Ugly: Jalen Milroe. It wasn't all his fault, but Tua/Bryce/Mac would have run Tennessee out of the stadium.
Those guys had a lot of playmakers on the outside. It is lot easier to play QB when you have Devontae Smith, Jaylin Waddle, Henry Ruggs and other NFL wide receivers. There isn’t a lot of talent at wide receiver the last two years. All we did was trade Bond for Williams. Bernard is more of a number 3 receiver type. They other guys haven’t improved over last few years. Prentice, Law are not very good.

Defense played better in the first half. But gave up 2 tds in the second ... one off a 90-plus drive. Offense was out of sync. Crazy amount of penalities and we still could have one the game lol

Punting game was the only real good imo. Oh and we're not Auburn lol

The good: well our defense played well enough to win.
The bad: Milroes body language throughout the game. He did nothing that showed leadership.

The bad: losing to the garbage truck workers convention. The offense and the game plan, no killer instinct, no dogs on the oline. For all the talk pre season from guys like Booker. No true wr2 and that is as much on milroe as the coaching. No one plays like they are mad at the world. Procter plays timid at times and still gives up pressure. And the OC seems clueless. There is calling plays and there is preparing a gameplan, He calls plays.

I think this is a good point that isn’t getting much attention. Milroe HAS to lead in games like this, and in all games for that matter. I haven’t seen much outside of slapping hands coming from the tunnel. Maybe I’m wrong? IMO this team just needs a leader in general.

It doesn't matter if it's football or business. If you have someone you WANT to follow good things happen. It's easy when things are good to be a "leader".

Good- the game is over

Bad- we lost to the God awful orange team

Ugly- Milroe’s lack of demonstrating leadership or hitting his targets or read coverage, the refs lack of knowing what penalties look like for the ”other team”, and as 81usaf92 pointed out, too many “I” opposed to “We” mentalities at the moment. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it has always been a “team” sport.

More ugly- Although disappointing to lose a game (I’m one too), the fans who haven’t been/can’t see beyond the Saban years and their “the world is over” comments. Much easier to whine about things from everywhere but being on the field.

ROLL TIDE

Good: defense really did look better today. Of course, their offense is terrible, but I’ll take a silver lining wherever I can find one.

Bad: Tommy Rees snuck into the stadium and started calling plays again. What the hell happened to our quarterback whisperer head coach?

Ugly: Bad penalties, no discipline, no character and frankly, no fire. I showed more emotion fixing the refrigerator in our garage this morning.

Unfair imo. What is the common denominator between Rees and the new staff?

Good - as much as I've talked about the D....they got 4 turnovers last week and 3 turnovers this week.

Bad - we didn't get points on any of those turnovers and gave away points with a lazy read and throw into the endzone. Two interceptions in the endzone in 2 weeks.

Ugly - team discipline....staff and team seem soft...but most of all, Milroe played lost, he's regressing more each game. It's getting worse and needs to be addressed. We are not a good football team and got lucky beating UGA

We are going nowhere this season, it's time to start giving Ty a chance and build. We are going to start losing recruits unless they see this as an opportunity for playing time. We may lose Ryan in December as well depending whomst the QB appears to be heading into 2025.

They thought they were going to be crowned champions after surviving georgia. When Williams was passing out chains after the uga game i stead of watching film to improve and shore up problems, I was concerned.
Was he really doing that? Man if he was one of my guys I’d bury him. Nothing gets under my skin more than bad discipline arrogance.

He has always been that way. It ain’t gonna change now.

Good- I had a great day again. I enjoyed some drinks and my cigar. We had pretty solid effort.
Bad- We are continuing our pattern of the last several seasons by playing undisciplined and soft football. Just having more talent does not guarantee success.
Ugly- Orange! The same people who talked about how great our coaching staff was a few weeks ago are the same ones who say that staff suddenly stinks. Comical!

I think that is reason #1 why Saban left. He knew that he could not stop the culture issues that we are facing... It is going to be tough for DeBoer to do so with NIL and Portal, but we need to let those players that aren't team oriented move on and keep searching.

The Good: Defense played hard and made a few key stops despite injuries.

The Bad: The offense did nothing when handed the ball after those key stops.

The Ugly: Milroe has hit his ceiling and doesn't have the skills to run DeBoer's offense. We need a guy like Penix that sees the whole field, makes decisions at football speed, and distributes the ball without locking in to a single guy on most plays. Doubt we play Ty, but I would love to see him get some time and see if he can be the guy next year or if we need to hit the portal. I appreciate Milroe's body of hard work and that he has improved, but I don't think we can go further. We also need major work on the offensive line and the ability to run the ball with our RBs. We are anemic on the ground.

Agreed. I see a lot of him coming off the field and siting by himself. No communication with the OC to discuss what he's seeing or talking with his receivers, line, ect.

I'm pretty sure that this team used to have running backs, and that they really weren't all that bad. Pity this coaching staff doesn't have a clue that those positions exist. Wouldn't surprise me to see them running to the portal to go somewhere that does appreciate the skill.

Agree and it has frustrated us fans that we have yet to establish a consistent running game. Saban teams always had a bell cow at that position. Coming into the season, Bama probably had the most talented RB room in the country, not just in the SEC. Jam is a physical back who runs downhill and we have not even attempted to make him a focal point to punish opposing defenses. Which leads to believe our oline is either not developed properly or they're overrated. I tend to believe it's the former.
Justice will a junior next season and will be the main back, but Young and with Dear, coming in, may have something to say about it.
Behind them are Hill who has a potential to be a bruising back. Riley was a Top 10 back and an in- state kid. I hope Deboer remembers the SEC has always been about defense and an effective rushing attack. Those two truth hasn't changed no matter how fancy offenses have evolved!

I had no idea we had more than 2 runningbacks.
