I see some big plays creating touchdowns during the game and probably several stalled drives ending in field goals for each team. However, by the end of the third quarter and into the fourth, I believe that our running game will start wearing down the horns and we'll have one or two long drives that keeps our defense fresh and Colt McCoy off the field.

My $.02... UA wins a fairly close one, 19-13. Thoughts:

1. In a number of key games this year, UA failed to convert opportunities into TDs against lesser teams (VT, OM, Tenn, Auburn, etc), and UT's defense is pretty good. Despite the beatdown in the SECCG I think 'bama will struggle in the red zone again, with Tiffin getting a lot of work.

2. UA's defense is the best in the land. McCoy will probably hook up with his BFF at some point, but that will just make it look closer than the game really was.

3. I think the edge in the game is CNS. There are plenty of coaches who are great with X's and O's but there are only a few who are masters at turning a collection of individuals into a team that's far greater than the sum of its parts. CNS is one of them and this year's team is a reflection of him.

No disrespect intended, Texas is a great team. But 'bama is a championship team this year, and that's the difference.

I have waited to post my score prediction because I will pick a Bama win not matter what. I was reading Saban's book yesterday "How Good Do You Want To Be" and on pg. 164 he spoke about motivating his LSU teams twice with the fear approach. Both games they lost and he knew he didn't believe in motivation by fear, but did it because the team wasn't having a good week of practice. I bring this up because I feel like Mack Brown is doing this same type of motivation. It has been referred to in another post about his poor mouthing, but I think it will backfire on him. I predict Texas will score and move the ball on us in the first quarter, but then our D wil settle in and focus on Texas' speed and start to shut them down. We seem to do this against these spread teams. We start taking control by the end of the first half and drop the hammer on them in the third quarter. I just feel we win in a hard fought ballgame, but even hard fought ones can get out of hand in the end.

I picked a 30-20 Bama win, but I think this could be really close for most of the game with Bama pulling ahead in the 4th. I am concerned about the long lay-off, the team not having played at game speed in a month etc. I think the attempts at practice consistency and daily routine that Coach Saban strives to keep the team in, will go far in how they respond in this game.
If BAMA plays their game, executes well, and doesn't turn the ball over, I like our chances for the win.:BigA:

I didn't have time to read this entire thread, so forgive me if I mirror someone else's post. I have been quietly confident (sometimes not so quietly) about this game all along. It just never seemed to me that Texas could stop our running game, and I thought that would be the deciding factor. We like to play ball control, and we've done it well all season.

Now, though, on the very eve of the Big Game, I can see Texas playing the same game with short passes. Three-step drop, pop it over the middle for 5 yards. Mix well and repeat.

I seriously believe that McCoy will burn us with at least one long touchdown.

I will be watching very closely for the first series or two of our offense. If we can get first downs with a balanced attack, we will win.

I say we control the ball late to preserve a one-touchdown win...

I agree about having to hear about it should they win! It is not the UT Grads I worry about but all the "fans" such as a lot of my neighbors who never went to UT or care about UT unless they are playing for the title.

My wife is an Aggie (we all have our faults) but, she and I laugh at all the cars riding around with brand new UT flags and passengers wearing brand new UT hats, T-shirts/jerseys. Once Bama wins you won't see the clothes, hats or flags again!
I see the same thing here. I have never, in my 60 years on this planet seen as much Bama stuff on cars as now. Flags, tags, stickers, etc. Tons and tons of that stuff. Bama fans coming out of the woodwork. People who would not have even admitted being Bama fans three years or so ago. Lots of "jumping on the wagon" that I see. If Bama loses this game, they will yank it off quick too keep the Barners from ragging them. There is always that percentage of jumping on while the winning is going on.
