Sondland had no business being appointed in the first place.Gordon Sondland has also been given the boot by Tr mp.
Vindman did nothing but his duty and telling the truth.

Its been SOP for as long as I can rememberSondland had no business being appointed in the first place.
Vindman did nothing but his duty and telling the truth.
no biggie. this is just a political difference and should be treated with the utmost respectNow Trump wants the next Congress to expunge his impeachment from the congressional record just as he has his workers destroying records from the national archive. He is a fascist trying to rewrite history.
Let's not get too maudlin.*Sondland had no business being appointed in the first place.

I get what you are saying, but what precedent had been set for Vindman to go by. This wasn’t a court martial of a higher ranking officer. IMO, Vindman served his country by going out on a limb. I feel pretty certain he knew the standard procedure. Maybe he was looking for a book deal, who knows? I choose under these circumstances to give him the benefit of the doubt.Let's not get too maudlin.*
Every Army officer gets moved on on average every 3 years.
He was not fired. He was reassigned.
Frankly, if I had ever publicly contradicted the president the way this officer did, reassignment would be the last I would expect.
If you think misconduct by senior officials has occurred, you call the IG, and recede not the background and rely upon others less vulnerable to take up the issue.
Yes, that was a bit of theater. Also, for the army officers that get moved every 3 years, are they escorted off the base? It looked to me like Trump was trying to disgrace Vindman.
This is corruption, plain and simple.
That was a great read. I wish more conservatives could see the light.
That position would be a bit more defensible ifLet's not get too maudlin.*

I'm not apologizing for Trump's thin skin and vindictiveness. That position would be a bit more defensible if
1. Trump had not already announced that he would be seeking payback.
2. Vindman hadn't been escorted from the WH by security, and
3. Vindman's twin brother hadn't also been removed.
4. Trump had not publicly trashed Vindeman.
While it may, in the end, redound to his, and his brother's benefit, given Trump's remarks about him, I have no doubt that the removal order originated in the White House...I'm not apologizing for Trump's thin skin and vindictiveness.
I will leave you with one last thought. It could be that someone at the Pentagon is looking out for both Vindman brothers by removing them from a situation in which serious harm could come to their careers. Keeping a career on track at that level is difficult and a slight black mark call put a career in a death spiral. Someone may be moving him to avoid a bad fitness report.
I myself was moved from a similar situation. A senior commander was stealing from my unit (not for personal benefit, but taking equipment from my unit and using it for his unit in defiance of Army policy). When I pointed that out, he lied about it.
My commander removed me (and my entire detachment) so that the accused malefactor never got a chance to evaluate my performance (which, at that point, would probably have been career ending, the malefactor was so vindictive). My boss did me a big favor by doing that. Maybe somebody in the Pentagon was doing Vindman a similar favor.
Trump (or his toadies) probably added the police escort as a (largely meaningless) theatrical flourish.
I do not know enough of his situation, but I doubt this will redound to the detriment of his career. Vindman and his brother will be reassigned to duties at the Pentagon until it is time to PCS again. As an infantry officer, if he has not commanded (or been selected to command) an infantry battalion, his odds of being promoted beyond full colonel are pretty slim, and that will have had nothing to do with the impeachment imbroglio. Don't command at battalion level, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
And the remarks included an unsaid message that anyone who promotes Vindman's career in any way in the future will pay the price. While it may, in the end, redound to his, and his brother's benefit, given Trump's remarks about him, I have no doubt that the removal order originating in the White House...
It is corruption but also it is heard by every conspiracy nut out there and comments such as this have all types of potential ramifications. It is an increasing embarrassment to have a man such as Graham in the US Senate. This is corruption, plain and simple.
He, Trump and McConnell are a disgrace. It is an increasing embarrassment to have a man such as Graham in the US Senate.
