This is another reason that the party system is broken. They know that he did this, but tribalism will have them continue to protect "one of their own".

CNN released poll results today - Fully one third of GOP respondents said that they believe that Trump has broken the law, but of those on 12% believe that he should be removed from office. How is it possible that you see Trump as breaking the law and still believe that he should remain your president? Tribalism. Right and wrong no longer apply in decision making. It is us vs. them, and we will side with us come hell or high water.

it's not necessarily that the party system is broken, it's that one of the parties is broken. this division has been purposeful and we have been heading towards this moment for a long time.

The DNC made sure that Clinton was not impeached not very long ago. That was another instance of tribalism. Both parties protect their own, not America.

I know you know this (and I get what you're saying), but Clinton actually WAS impeached.
He wasn't convicted.

Sorry, that was what I meant to say. Same for Trump - impeached but tribalism will prevent conviction.

Who cares if they are "exactly" the same? Honestly, you guys are a part of the problem and you can't even see it. You see the GOP as evil (not arguing), but you fail to see that the DNC is also evil. Why? Because one is worse than the other, the other must be okay. Well, guess what - neither is okay.
