This is my second annual tirade against how it is decided to award SECCG tickets. First let me begin with I know they pay big money, but so do I and I'd like to know who makes the rules changes for Tide Pride, but I've never been able to understand that either. :VIOLIN:
MY opinion is that every member of Tide Pride should start with getting two tickets and then begin giving out what is left over, that way all those who contribute get to participate. I now return control of the soap box to those in charge. :banghead:

I know this is not my fight but, I now only get two season tickets. The kids have grown up and moved away and I am getting older. However I was able to order four SECC tickets through the ticket office due to my Tide Total points.
Even to me, that just does not sound right.

How exactly do you start by giving every member of Tide Pride two tickets? I don't know exactly how many members of Tide Pride there are, but I am sure that it is much more than 4,531. That is the number of members to whom Tide Pride could give two tickets, given what Tide Pride gets out of the university's ticket allotment.

Then Tide Pride has the audacity to include a bowl ticket form that we can order from, but not our own conference championship game!!!! I have let them know all about it. Plus most season tickets are held by elderly fans that sell them then sell the SEC championship tickets and they end up on the net for several hundred dollars over face value. But of course the University could care less as long as someone buys them originally and Saban's mortgage is paid!!!!!!!:mad2:

I think the argument is more about some Tide Pride members getting more than two tickets, leaving others out to dry. No opinion on it, just trying to clarify.

If you dont have 300 points no tickets. The extra tickets that some members get end up on Stub hub for $700. Plenty of TidePride members could use those tickets!!!!!

Your math doesn't work out. There are more TP members than available tickets to the SECCG.

Below is the response from TP as you can see you need 315 points just to order a ticket the monetary donation part being the key piece. The other factor is that the SEC Office needs to renegotiate the number of tickets sold to the universities considering they only get 15,900 apiece (31800 total) that is roughly only half of the cpacity of the Ga dome.
Rkel is correct it is about those with deeper pockets (read corporate skyboxes) getting tickets and the little guy left out.

Mr. Wheeler,

You have 240 points. You needed 315 to get a SEC ticket offer.

The TIDE Totals Priority Points was created to include longevity, season ticket purchases as well as monetary donations.

Unfortunately we do not receive enough tickets to accommodate all of our donors. We receive 15,900 tickets for the SEC Championship game. Out of this allotment we have to provide tickets for players’ guests, coaches’ guests, trustees, students, band, faculty/staff, football lettermen, President’s Office, and TIDE PRIDE members. Only about half of the total allotment goes to TIDE PRIDE donors.

The number of points needed to receive any road game ticket is a moving target. There are many factors which include: 1) the number of tickets the Athletics Department receives to the road game; 2) the demand for tickets to the road game; and 3) the number of points you have in comparison to all others who have also ordered tickets to that road game.

As much as we would like to be able to accommodate all of our faithful TIDE PRIDE members, it is just not possible.

I know this does not help your situation, but hopefully, it helps you to understand the Tide Totals point system.

Please know that your support of the Crimson Tide is appreciated.

Thanks and Roll Tide

Yep, the SEC has several entities they provide tickets to and it isn't the fan bases. I joined the A+ club and send money all the timeand have yet to pass the magic number. But we get to order Bowl tickets. SEC has gone more corporate than the Bowls. This is terrible. Let's here it for the American Dream. CBS HD and a cold Miller lite will have to suffice. Dig deep and send every dime you have and maybe we will get a shot at 2 tickets someday. RTR and lets get those Gators!!!

The allotments to the schools should have been greater to begin with, but now it would be tough to change. The SEC has been selling tickets ever since the game started and that's how we are able to get our tickets. We ordered 4 back when it moved to Atlanta and have been renewing the order every year. The SEC controls those tix and would have to bump people off that list to give more to the schools. Ok with me as long as I don't get bumped. :)

I was 6 points short through TP this year even though I was able to get 2 last year. I have 4 TP season tix and can't even get 2 now. It is frustrating.

The other factor is that the SEC Office needs to renegotiate the number of tickets sold to the universities considering they only get 15,900 apiece (31800 total) that is roughly only half of the cpacity of the Ga dome.[/I]

Not going to happen. Paying customers have ordered the others and renew every year. There are no more tickets to negotiate for.

I was eligible for SEC Championship tix in 96 and 99, but now with this Tide Totals, I will never get them unless I hit the MegaMillions! I'd like to be there, but I'm happy reclined on the sofa watching the game on our 40 inch hdtv!

I am in the same boat with about 185 points. I've got a much better chance of getting NC tickets than SEC - in part because the Ga. Dome only holds around 72K and the participating schools only get a small fraction of the tickets (which I find to be the most ridiculous part of the whole thing.)

Seems that they (UA) jacked the cut off this year to over 300 from around 200 last year, too. Does anyone recall last year's cut off?

Regarding which donors get how many, etc ... it's an age-old gripe that certainly has merits. Really, if you don't purchase 8 season tix, should be allowed to purchase 8 SEC or bowl tix just because of how much $$ you give?

I've been putting my name in the SEC waiting list every year to no avail.

If I don't get bowl tickets this year, it may be my last in TP. I can just walk up and buy tix off the street in Tuscaloosa for the big games I really want to attend and still come out ahead $$-wise at the end of the year.
