Tim Hawthorne?

For those of you that know more than I do what is the deal with the perceived cold shoulder he is giving us? Did we not give him enough love along the way? He stated his AU visit last w'end was a perfect ten. Will he not even give Coach Shula the time of day?

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=8&c=1&nid=1735542

According to this info. he'll visit us in Jan., but I've heard rumblings that might not be the case after all. :conf2:

I wouldnt say cold shoulder..

He wants to go with a big time qb. Id be very suprised if he went to Auburn. If he stays in state, and thats a big IF, then I think bama is his team. That being said, the more I hear, the more I think he will out of state. But not out of the SEC...and within the border states to Alabama, especially to the state on the east...But thats just my gut, or maybe the mexican food I ate.

On second thought, I know nothing.

Tim isn't giving us the cold shoulder at all. He's just giving us the same consideration as other schools. Tim's family are Bama fans and the staff is after him hard. We will be there till the end.

Yesterday, on the SportsDrive radio show, Travis Reier spoke at length about Tim Hawthorne. His belief is that Hawthorne is really enjoying the whole recruiting process. He's enjoying the traveling, the sight-seeing and the excitement. He's like a kid in a candy store trying to decide which Gobstopper flavor to choose. They all look good to him. He loved Louisville. He loved Georgia. He loved Auburn.

I think we have him coming in for an official visit on the weekend of the 13th. If he follows his pattern, he'll love Bama, too.

Hawthorne mentioned earlier something about comparing his recruitment to Fred Rouse last year. If you over analyze what he is saying, he will take all his visits, love them all and then go with the closest school, ala Bama.

If you think about it for a moment, Fred Rouse was also giving FSU the "cold shoulder" at this time last year. If I remember correctly, he visited FSU on one of the last two weekends in January earlier this year and after that, Texas was an afterthought. As he has stated, TH clearly believes his recruiting is going to be "crazier" than FR's. The point: don't read too much into ANY of his comments right now... they do not mean much and will not until he's saying them on NSD.

T Hawthorne

I believe him deciding not to visit Bama pretty much tells the story on where we stand, but stranger things have happened! I still say love to have him,but not likely to happen at this time. I hope something happens to change that though.

Hawthorne's profile that you linked says he is not going to visit Bama officially that is not rumblings that is reportedly the facts he told Bama Mag or Scout.com that he is not taking an official to Bama. No matter how anyone wants to look at it when a prospect does not want to pay an official visit to a school I would guess way more often than not he does not sign with that school.

to Make his recruitment crazier than Fred Rouse wouldn't he have to act like he didn't even like the school he's going to choose? I think this kid is trying to push his 15 minutes of fame to the limit, just in case he never gets again. He probably knows where he's going already, and I wouldn't be suprised if its bama. And he' good enough that most schools will hold a place for him to the end. He's living like a king on this recruiting visits, and eating it up. He hasn't committed cause he don't have to. The Internet and recruitng fans like me and anyone reading this thread have made monsters out of these kids.

Here's the quotes from an interview done 2 days ago.

"I will visit South Carolina January 13, Florida January 20, and Louisville January 27,"

and

"Alabama, Tennessee and LSU are still in it," said Hawthorne. "I plan to make an unofficial visit to Alabama January 6. My parents haven't been down there. I want them to experience it. We'll go down there and spend the whole day."

It also says that he will make an unofficial to LSU.

I'd be surprised if he makes his visit to UF unless he is just going for the fun of the trip. UF is getting very low on spots and already has 5 WR commitments.

Hey Surfer, I'm almost sure when I posted that link the same info. available now was not available then. If I missed it then I'll blame Christmas. :D

...
...does anyone know if Tim and parents made it over to the campus today?

... and if so, how did it go?

thanks, rto

just clinging to a hope that he's gonna come our way after he gets through with all his "joy riding"

Hawthorne said today that he may cancel his South Carolina & Louisville visits. He says he is tiring of the recruiting process and ready to get it over with. Not sure if this is good or bad for us, but, at least the part about cancelling the USC and UL visits is good.

Hawthorne Unofficial?

Did Tim Hawthorne have an unofficial visit set up with Bama on 1/6? Did it take place. I have not heard anything about it yet.

Yes.......and he was bringing his parents

However, for some weird reason he said the staff would be out of town at a NCAA convention! IMO there must be some big misunderstanding b/n him and the staff b/c this was in a BOL interview last week about him deciding to have an unofficial visit. :conf3: I am having some difficulty following the logic in this one...............I mean if he trys to set up an official a week ago...........says he is bringing his parents............the staff has been on him all year................a week later he says the staff will not be there so why keep his visit. There is some missing pieces to this puzzle, and I have no inside scoop from our staff, but this story just does not make sense to me! I really have not felt comfortable with our status with T H and this twisted tale didn't help. :conf2:

Ditto... there must be a good explanation about this. Doesn't there? :conf2:

Here's the deal on this one....he said he wanted to take an unofficial this weekend BEFORE he set it up with the staff. Between interviews, he tried to set it up and low and behold, the staff isn't going to be there.

Thanks R022

That helps alot b/c I was scratching my head on this one...........like I said in other posts I read the interviews and pick up clues here and there........and sometimes on local kids I get inside scoops, but with TH he is just too hard to get a feel on. I really think he's a good prospect, but keep getting bad vibes! :conf2: I still feel that A Smith is b/n F$U and Bama and know there are at least 2 other teams in the running. However,TH and Whitehead seem to be less than 40% of a chance for us to get. I wish I felt more certain on Stevens too,However, I would love to get them all and would be happy with 2/4! :p
