Don't know how this will go bUT he's a domer player and coach who left the dome. That suggests to me he did not have the talent to do what he wanted to do there so we will have to wait and see what he does with our players. not worried about him coming from Kelly's coaching tree, kelly beat us with a bunch of portal trash this year, he may be goofy but he can coach.

The more I learn about this hire, the better I like it. The main thing being having a much more physically dominant brand of offense, but there's plenty more to be excited about. Coach Rees, being only 30 yrs old, will likely be here a long time, adding stability at the position.
If he accomplishes what I think he's going to at Bama, he'll likely be here two years before getting offered a HC job somewhere.

I know Coach Kiffin has his demons, but I loved his mastery of offensive scheming, indicated by his raising his hands in the "Touchdown!" signal at the snap of the ball because he knew we had gotten the match-up we wanted (like a LB covering a speedy wide-put).
I hope coach Rees has that ability as well.

I don't think a new OC will level the field as much as some think. We'll still be using the 'Bama playbook and terminology with the OC being able to add some here or there and make adjustments, but the guys who have been around for a while (Milroe and Simpson) will still be ahead in 'knowing' the system. I think Milroe will get a shot, but based on what we've seen, the new OC would have to be the best ever QB whisperer ever to get milroe truly ready by season start. He's got a lot of tools - they just need a lot of polish.
So, I found that part interesting. Let me ask you something: What was the difference between BOB's and Daboll, Locksley , Kiffin play callings? The usage of the TE. BOB didn't' utilize that until Auburn game.

Rees' hiring will shift the focus back to the running the ball physically and the usage of TE, and ability to throw the ball down the field... so to me, that is a game changer for offense and to me, Rees will level the field as much he can because he is that good.

On Milroe- I don't like to bash players, I don't like to talk about them in a negative way because they're still a young kid in college trying to earn education, and I have huge huge respect for him as a man on and off the field. So with that being said... From what I've heard... For him to have a shot, He has to improve significantly this spring, summer and fall to show he can throw the ball. Bama is already looking for a transfer QB, and likely will get one after spring. With that being said, there is good chance Milroe will transfer after spring. I just don't see him as a starter for Alabama. Milroe will be a starter, but I don't think it'll be at Alabama.

Milroe, Simpson and Holstein and Dylan are likely to compete for job, and it'll be narrowed down to two for summer and fall. if they don't impress this spring/summer... We'll see a transfer qb starting for Alabama this fall.

He did some pretty outstanding stuff with backups at ND (due to injuries). Backups, I might add, who wouldn’t have made Bama’s roster even as backups. None had JM’s athleticism. As a former QB I think he helps JM’s passing - how much will determine who starts in the fall. JM could be JH, but he’s behind schedule because of two years with BoB. I don’t know if he has the same tenacity as JH, or the laser focus on being the best; his attitude doesn’t seem to be a problem. We will know a lot more in the fall, but I’m excited about the possibilities.
Something to note: Milroe's QB at Alabama for two years were BOB. That's it. BOB is not a qb coach.

If Milroe doesn't win a job and he stays a year at Alabama.... He will benefit from Tommy Ree's coaching and I think that's in his best interest but unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

NC's are difficult and 3 in a row are virtually impossible. They will be in the mix...but so will several others. We have as good a chance as any due to our talent...if it comes together then we will be fine. Enjoy the journey...
Have you seen UGAs schedule for next year? It's a joke even by the standards of Ole Miss and Miss State.

Trust me when I say this: Tommy Rees is a huge hire for Alabama.... We've had people who whined about this hire, and it's the same one who whined about Daboll, Locksley and Kiffin. Guess what?

All but one are HC. BOB is an OC for Patriot. Daboll took his team to playoff. Kiffin had a great season. Locksley had pretty good season. We will be just fine.

Helen Keller would be an upgrade.

Someone who has never watched a football game would be an upgrade.

An Auburn fan with rickets and a porn addiction would be an upgrade.

Alec Baldwin with a loaded gun would be an upgrade.

Hell, Clay Travis calling Alabama plays wearing orange would be an upgrade over what we have just endured.
Lost the coffee on that one!!! :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
he's young and will likely be the OC for several years. I don't see him leaving Bama for another OC position and it will be a few years before he's viable as a HC candidate.
He's young, for sure, but Lane Kiffin got hired as head coach of the Raiders at 32. Sean McVay got hired as the coach of the Rams at 30---the age Rees is now. There's a strong inclination to hire the next young offensive genius.

If he gets the offense firing in the manner of the 2020 team and Ty Simpson is a Heisman contender, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Rees get offered a Power 5 head coaching job. Which I'd take under that scenario.

Here's why I can't take him serious at all.

1. ND has less talents on the team.
2. They lost several QBs and still manage to have successful season.
3. It's ND.
4. Bama has way more talents on the team than ND. Why do you think Kelly left ND for LSU?

His rant was out of context and so I can't take him serious.
Rees is getting attention from former NFL QB's, now NFL analysts claiming he should be in the conversation of one of the best play callers in college football at using formations, shifts and motion to scheme guys open. In the video you posted Orlovsky states Rees "throws A LOT of stuff at the defense to process". We weren't doing that under BOB for the past two years. It was under Kiffin and Sark that we did stuff like what Orlovsky is saying about Rees.

Keep in mind he is scheming lesser talented guys open and now he will be scheming significantly more talented guys open. Talent matters and it is unfair to judge a coach when almost anyone in college football can tell you that any coach at ND will never have top tier talent at his disposal. As with Brian Kelly, he has ALWAYS been credited as being a "great football mind" but when he got to ND it appeared he'd reached his peak, but in reality, he simply went as far as he was going to go with the talent cap that happens at ND. That cap is off at LSU and now they have a legit coach for the first time since Saban. Tommy Rees needs to be given a chance to prove himself with talent.
