Thanks but I do not need your help with my opinion. The SEC represented 7 of the top 60 offenses in 2022 so Notre Dame finished 53rd out of the top 53 non sec defensive non sec offensive teams.

If you somehow are impressed with Notre Dame finishing 2022 #60 overall 2021 #45 overall and 2020 #26 overall in total offense under his handling of the OC duties then that is your opinion and is fine, but I am not excited by the hire. Every year his offense has declined and not improved.

He may be all world and if Saban thinks he is the guy I definitely can get behind him and support him but it does not change my opinion. He has not done anything in the past that gives me the “wow” factor type of feel. It is only my opinion and I could easily be wrong. Heck I hope he does great and proves me wrong. No doubt we have the talent. I am just not super excited, but then again it is not like that matters to really anyone other than myself.

* Also as a disclaimer:
When Saban called for my input I accidentally sent him to vm.

He did some pretty outstanding stuff with backups at ND (due to injuries). Backups, I might add, who wouldn’t have made Bama’s roster even as backups. None had JM’s athleticism. As a former QB I think he helps JM’s passing - how much will determine who starts in the fall. JM could be JH, but he’s behind schedule because of two years with BoB. I don’t know if he has the same tenacity as JH, or the laser focus on being the best; his attitude doesn’t seem to be a problem. We will know a lot more in the fall, but I’m excited about the possibilities.
Milroe can pass. He mostly needs to get over his nervousness. I think he will.

If Milroe got over being nervous on the field, he never looked like he was in charge. On pass plays Milroe looked at the first receiver, then he ran with the ball, or tried to force the ball in, and threw interceptions. I was not impressed. Defenses lined up and came after him.

There’s no way Rees can succeed in this guy’s eyes.
This feels like the discussion after A-Day every spring. If Crimson puts up 46 points on White, then some feel the O is on fire. Others feel the D is in trouble.
If White wins 10-3, some feel the D is world-beating and others feel the offense is in trouble.
Rees may do better with better talent (which he will have at Bama). Rees will also be facing tougher competition coaching against SEC teams. Time will tell.

Milroe has a very strong arm. There is a difference in that and a passer. I’m pulling for Milroe to develop. From all I read he is great young man. His athleticism would be a huge weapon if he can accurately throw the ball. I do agree that some of it may be mental. I can’t imagine the pressure a QB at Bama feels. I would probably melt through the field if I threw a pick.

“So, 39th out of 130 with mediocre personnel, a first time HC, and losing your starting QB in the 2nd game of the year and replacing him with one who would not be a backup on most SEC rosters, is much more impressive. Btw, ND's O took off in the 2nd half (7 games) of the season, averaging 38+ pts per games, with a low of 27. This included 35 vs Clemson, 27 vs USCw, 45 vs USCe, with victories over Clemson and USCe.”

The second half of the season adjustment really impress me.

My feeling about the Rees hire is "cautiously optimistic."
He seems young, maybe has fresh ideas. He may believe in running the dang ball.
Maybe two years of BoB have lowered my expectations.
Bryce is gone, however, so "snap it to Bryce and maybe he'll make something happen" is not going to be an option anymore. Fingers crossed.

That’s why we need a schemer.

I'm sure nerves are a part of it, but there's way more than that. Just a lot of development that needs to happen.
I love The kid, I can see why he was recruited. Great team mate , great attitude. I just don’t see his improvement to the point he consistently makes the right pass on third down to keep a drive going. Sure he may do it a couple of times, and getting comfortable will be a big part of it, but you can put me in the doubter column. I hope he proves me wrong, to be fair I had doubts about Bryce when he took over for Mac.

This.
The headline is a teaser. Read the article.
From that article, exactly what I suspected.

.Regardless of who turned who down, rumors along the interwebs seem to indicate that Grubb wanted to make some major changes to Saban’s offense, and Saban wasn’t a fan.

I get what you are saying - the thing is none of us really ever know. Hurts trajectory was completely unpredictable. Even at the youth level I see kids going from barely being functional, and not even appearing to want to care, to all of a sudden something clicking and being really good, but then other players stalling out and not progressing a lot after starting out as really promising. Both those are kinda exceptions, but they do happen.

Helen Keller would be an upgrade.

Someone who has never watched a football game would be an upgrade.

An Auburn fan with rickets and a porn addiction would be an upgrade.

Alec Baldwin with a loaded gun would be an upgrade.

Hell, Clay Travis calling Alabama plays wearing orange would be an upgrade over what we have just endured.
Bob's inspiration for play calling was Mike Shula. He even used a 3x5 index card for a playbook.

Last Homerun coach I can think of is Nick himself.
Why do you guys keep using random, baseball analogies?

Let's use things we can all wrap our heads around.

Let's talk hires that are:
Lost Fumbles
Failed Fourth-Down Conversions
First-Downs
Interceptions
Goal-Line Stands
Field Goals
Touchdowns

The article: if Notre Dame did it well, they were supposed to. If they didn’t, he failed.

If he was attempting to have an offense that chewed clock, converted first downs, and kept more explosive offenses off the field, he succeeded magnificently.

There’s no way Rees can succeed in this guy’s eyes.
It’s an Erik Evans article he is a long winded Debbie downer. Also he constantly argued that Pete Golding did a good job “because of the metrics and the stats” 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

No one will ever have me believe that BOB wasn't just going through the motions at Alabama. That this wasn't just a stopping off place for someone who already had several million in the bank. I thought he excelled in always saying what people wanted to hear and yes praising the boss to stay on his good side. For those who always say he was more of NFL guy I ask where did we first see BOB? At Penn State where he won Coach of the Year.
