UT over Auburn? Forget it. Recently, it has been a common pattern for UT to show early promise, then lose a couple of big games and fall out of championship contention. The Vols then respond with a big win in the underdog role (e.g., win over Miami in 03' at the Orange Bowl, beating LSU in 05' in Baton Rouge, and drilling UGA in 07').
Not this time. This year's version of the Vols has been bad out of the gate. UCLA, since its win over UT, has not won a game losing by a combined 90 to 10. Best shot for a Vol upset probably comes later in the year once the Vols have 3 or 4 losses under their belt, and someones really overlooks them. The talent is there for a shocker. Beware Bama -- you'll be playing a Vol team that will probably be 3-4 (maybe 4-3) at that time.

I'm thinking along the same lines, jughead, but I don't think you'll see Alabama overlook UT for quite some time to come.
You're probably right, but it would be nice. Vols historically do not play Bama well in Knoxville. UT has won some squeakers in 00', 04' and 06' against some mediocre to poor Bama teams. Of course, Vols got drilled in T-Town last year; so much for playing Bama tougher on the road.
Good chance the Vols are 3-4 for this game. I do think this UT team is probably incapable of a major upset, but perhaps can pull off a minor one with UK and Vandy at the end of the season. Wait, did I just say what I think I just said?
Vols have won 24 of last 25 against Vandy, and have a 23 game winning streak against UK, yet will likely be an underdog in both games.
