He aint much of a coach if he cant look at the film of games and practices over the past season...
He need to recruit every player in the team and make staff decisions. Remember, all the players leaving now had already gone through the last transfer portal window. They were good enough where we wanted them to stay. Safe bet to recruit all of them to stay as a blanket approach at this point.

I hope he hasn’t watched a moment of film at this point. Time better spent elsewhere.

But I was constantly told that I was wrong in believing that a quarterback doesn’t affect the receiver room. The receiver position is full of the stereotypical prima Donnas in that they want the ball and the glory. If you don’t give that to them then you have rebellions. There are very few Devonta Smiths at the position.
Many pointed out Milroe's shortcomings but were blasted for it................

one of the things I have been impressed with ever since CNS joined is that we had fewest prima donnas in WR room... in fact none in 2008-2018 time frame. Just remarkable. With NIL I think the attitude is changing too

Nowadays its every man for himself and "What have you done for me lately"............when you throw that kind of money out there, it's no wonder that players are grabbing for all the greenbacks they can get. and players transferring out are probably being told to leave because they can get more money elsewhere..........

I agree with the respect comment, but disagree with the sales call part. Call it whatever you wish, but it was a sales call. And if he had already made up his mind, it was a sales call from a competitor.
More like a call from his boss/employer. He decided to take a new job and decided to blow everyone off and burn his bridges on the way out. When you do that, you better really hope it works out for you.

Yes and CNS was near backed into a corner from half his staff and players into making the decision and worked out for him then.

Fast forward to 2023 and he was confronted with the same decision at the beginning of the season, and caved to the pressure and it was the wrong decision imo. If it played out like we have heard.

It helped win an NC in 2017

For those saying CKD should boot Milroe now: Are you saying that CKD should run off a guy who is willing to stay and compete for his job - knowing there will be an open competition after he held QB1 all year - so he could maybe keep a bunch of guys who are willing to quit on their team within 48 hours after the new coach is hired? Am I getting that right?

If I'm Ryan Williams, the path to a starting job just opened up like a four-lane road.

As for Bond, I don't begrudge him his decision, but his lack of class exiting the program and refusing even to take a call from the new coach embarrasses his family name.
I really hope Ryan Williams sees the light, and reverses his decision. He'll be noticed quicker under DeBoer. All eyes will be on Bama come September.

Loyalty can be a good thing, if that was what it was.............I understand he didn't want to damage Milroe's confidence, but if Milroe is that fragile then he doesn't need to be under center. A poster on here pointed out Milroe's shortcomings all last year but was poo-pooed for it, but he was right. You cannot let the players dictate the direction of the team, or you wont win...........and I suspect some players who were involved in that are some who are leaving

No one is saying that................what they are saying is that there should be an open QB competition. Saban held that all positions are up for grabs his whole time at Bama. Should Milroe be gifted the position or should he have to compete for it?

Yes, these kids may have a 30 day transfer window, but its actually shorter than that if they are going to enroll in classes for this semester. And the transfer have to be enrolled in order to participatein spring training. Decisions are having to be made quickly in reality.

I thought the team wanted Milroe starting?

Now they are leaving because of Milroe?

I really never understood why they wanted him starting because he is not a “point guard” but the focus with his running. We have to many weapons to be hamstrung by one player being shutdown.

None of this makes a whole lot of sense. It seems we’ve had a culture issue since 2021 when the 2020 guys left.

I’m glad there is a change in leadership to be honest. I think Coach Saban knew we needed a rebuilding and that it was going to be hard to get rid of the issues on this team and he didn’t have the energy to deal with it anymore. What a great coaching job they did this year considering the attitudes and issues we have.

Here’s to Coach Deboer and new beginnings!

Well here is a stat for you… we have no wr on our staff that was recruited in the 2020 or 2021 recruiting class. I think losing Wiggins may not be a bad thing. We may pay for it now but I think we may be better off in the long run.

Of course he should have to compete for it, that's exactly what I said would happen. But at least one poster in this thread implied that CKD should encourage Milroe to transfer right now so we can hold on to people like Bond, Niblack, et al. So the message seems to be "Boot Milroe, who is apparently willing to stay and compete, to save the turds who can't seem to stomach the change." Look, I'm no huge Milroe defender. Early in the season especially, I thought we should have switched to Ty S. and ride it out from there. But at least Milroe isn't bailing on the team like some of these cats.

Very few if any are saying that. We are saying if you want elite receivers then you must have a great distributor at quarterback. Because you see it time and time again the receivers get angry when they aren’t getting the ball.
