Trump Attacks Iran, II

That should have been a known going in? In many cases US/Israel are using $2+ million dollar Patriot or THAAD missles to shoot down $50 k drones and other lower cost Iranian missiles. It is by definition a losing proposition. Raytheon is hiring at their Missile operations in Huntsville. All of this is great news for the defense contractors.
this time we'll totally be greeted as liberators

“Just this week, we saw campaign fundraising materials being put out, emails where the president’s committee, the president’s political operation, was raising money off of images of him at a dignified transfer.

Any politician who does that has no business leading American troops into war. If the president is willing to raise campaign funds over the bodies of America’s war dead, he is unfit to be the commander in chief.”

—Pete Buttigieg speaking on CNN’s State of the Union

Btw - for those too young to remember - the Iran-contra affair STARTED in 1985 because when the US was looking for a strategic "in" with Iran, a pro-Israeli guy (Michael Ledeen) who had been an assistant to President Alexander Haig visited with Shimon Peres and came back tying together Israeli policy towards Iran (to arm Iran and let the Iran-Iraq War go on into perpetuity without Iraq winning) with American foreign policy (deny Iran arms and insure free flow of Persian Gulf oil).

One does not have to be overly bright to see the contradiction between Israel's goals and the US in this instance.

The very first trade of arms for hostages in Iran-Contra was Israel sending missiles to Iran with the USA replacing those missiles with more up-to-date missiles (August 20, 1985).

No hostages were released.

Just reviewed a detailed video on why the US Navy or any other navy cannot escort oil and gas tankers through Hormuz. Briefly there are mines and US Mine Sweepers are not on the scene, in Japan instead. Still a very dangerous job. Iran missile and drone capability has been decimated but, it only take one missile to create a billion dollar blaze on a super tanker. There are Iranian speed boats hidden in inlets long the coast, again only one is required.

The problem for Iran is their oil shipments cannot leave as well. For a petrol state like Iran it isn't long before the run out of funds. But, they may have friends who appreciate the fact that the US and Israel have themselves in a tough situation politically and otherwise.

It certainly feels now like a drawn out war and political conundrum that Trump has gotten us into! It seems that no one quite thought this through.

I really wish one of these men would just belt this pile of chicken crap.
Hit him smack across the face, knock the cowardly little wuss out.

I do too but because he’s the POTUS they would bury that person under the prison.

Though in truth I think a Mass Serial Pedophile and Rapist should be dragged out of their hidey hole and drawn and quartered in public.

The largest Navy that the world has ever seen with three carrier groups to be deployed cannot keep the Strait of Hormuz open. To my knowledge no US warship has entered the Strait so why is Trump threatening NATO if they don't send ships. Next he will be demanding ground troops to support his war! It would be political suicide for any European leader to get involved.

It is anyway a virtual impossibility for an escort fortilla to sail through the narrow channel while escorting a behemoth oil tanker. Hopefully Trump has taken down all of his political support this time around!

Yes and that’s WHY he’s so phony Brave. Every bully in the world is contingent on having backup.

But drop him and make it go viral. There is nothing that piece of excrement fears more than humiliation. Hell, have a beefy girl trained in martial arts drill him.

I'm reading today where the Saudi prince is exhorting us to "cut off the head off the snake."

I'd say, go ahead and send your own troops. The ones who got their asses kicked by the Houthis. They bravely ran away, away. Like Sir Robin. :D

I'm really tired of the US doing the work that the other countries aren't willing to do, yet cheer us on.
This is not our fight (though it is now that we broke things).
