After being pressed about how two survivors clinging to a piece of wood in the ocean pose an immediate threat to the United States 1500 miles away, a nervous Karoline Leavitt directs questions to the “Dept. of War.”

This is an impeachable offense - and they know it.

Morality aside, just from a combat effectiveness perspective, I'd prefer to grab these bozos and interrogate them. Who knows what beans they might spill if properly motivated, both on the shipping end and the receiving end.

From the perspective of the Law of Armed Conflict, I think both the guy who gave the order and the guy who executed it are both in legal trouble, if this story is true. Given the source, I have my doubts.

The story was that an admiral, of all things, gave the order. We don't even do that to enemy combatants in a Congressionally-declared real war. Sometimes, we're not in a position to rescue, but, when possible, we've always rescued swimming survivors. (Couldn't rescue most Japanese. They'd rather commit suicide or die - Bushido.)

The story was that an admiral, of all things, gave the order. We don't even do that to enemy combatants in a Congressionally-declared real war. I draw the analogy between paratroopers versus airmen bailing out from a damage play.
It is legal to shoot paratroopers (soldier deploying to combat) but not airmen (they are hitting the silk because their craft is damaged beyind use).
These guys strike me as more analogous to the latter category, and are thus protected targets.

The next question should have been, "Is pardoning a drug trafficker self-defense to protect Americans in vital United States interests?"

The right continues to praise these bombings while remaining silent on the disgusting pardon Trump issued.
