BREAKING trump wins, why?

Maybe if the dems stop nominating people who already bring a lot of baggage in the form of poor approval ratings at the start. Clinton and Harris came into the race with a lot of negatives and weren't able to sufficently overcome them. Although trump certainly had many negatives too. I guess that's why it remained so close both times. 🤷‍♂️

Nailed it. If Vance or any other Republican with less baggage runs against KH, it isn't close. If Democrats start fresh and ran against Trump, different result is very possible. Whomever is making these decisions either has the people they are choosing already in their pocket or they lack quite a bit of foresight.

I'm probably in the minority here but I really hope hope he does something with immigration. He had 4 years, Biden had 4 years and neither did much substantive and I still believe that this was the major cause of this loss. Dont forget that trump let it be known for republicans to sink the last bill. It had its flaws but was still better than nothing.

I think it is funny this thread has devolved into both sides calling each other's voters dumb.

It is only a vibrant economy for the wealthy and billionaire class who are raking in the profits by ripping off middle/lower class Americans. I'm so tired of the left and the Biden admin tell us how great the economy is when prices are outrageous. Sure, more people have jobs but we still can't afford to buy anything.

I do think it was mostly the economy, and I don't think that is just an excuse to cover racism, etc.

I wish I could find it but, last night, CNN showed this map one time, and only once. It was a map showing every county in the country, color coded by whether inflation outpaced wages or wages outpaced inflation. The darker the color on either end of the spectrum the worse/better it was. John King pointed out 2 things with this map:

Out of over 4000 counties across this nation, you could count on 1 hand the number of counties where wages outpaced inflation. 5 out of 4000+.

The counties across the nation that saw the worst inflation outpacing wages lined up almost perfectly with the counties that Trump saw the most gains from 2020. That spells it out pretty clearly to me. Unfortunately, I don't think Trump can fix the economy with the stupid "plans" he has mentioned.

So wages not outpacing inflation is a new thing?

Four years ago, I was making the same salary I was making in the late 1990s. In real dollars, I was doing a helluva lot better 25 years ago.

It really is sad what happens to fiat currencies! The German's understand that better than anyone from 1918. Due to age my perspective goes a ways back and it is amazing what a dollar would buy as little time ago as in the 60's and 70's up until to we decided fight Vietnam and create the Great Society on borrowed dollars. Guns and butter at the same time.

99BLKBRD is gone, as will anyone else coming in slinging names at other members. These were the only posts he's ever made. He apparently joined just to make them. BTW, please don't quote objectionable material. It just makes more work for the staff...
His inevitable fate was pretty obvious. Anybody who lurks these boards should be able to easily ascertain that WWE-style dialogue isn't welcome here and yet, some people just can't help themselves.

LOL, thank you. I needed that. Next time I get into an argument with someone in Montgomery over funding, I think I'm going to go this route. If someone tries to initiate disciplinary action, I'll just walk in with one pant leg tucked into my sock. You'd be surprised at how effective this is for discouraging conversation.

It's clear that a lot of US voters were somehow hypnotized adn
Yup and thats why I said you dont do that when she did. Sometimes its best to hold your tongue and not shoot yourself in the foot. But it still doesn't change the facts.
Somehow Trump can call anyone names, denigrate entire countries, smear hundreds of people's names, use misogynistic language but when Hillary used the word deplorables once, that's the game, set, match folks. What a putrid double standard. We SHOULD be better than that as a counry. It would take me hours just to copy and paste the horrific things Trump has said, posted, and insinuated vs. both Hillary and Kamala and the anyone else he doesn't like.

From where I sit the issues that the Dem's lost are quite evident:
1. Immigration and the threats that it brings..
2. Inflation and the threat to financial stability.
3. Increasing emphasis on LBGTQ and transgender issues and the threat this brings to people who do not share this perspective.

The Dems were not able to show how their perspective would solve these issues and make the lives of "average" Americans better.

DJT and the Republican Party promised to do so. Whether they can/will do so or not remains to be seen. Fear mongering against a leftist elite is a strategy that has worked for decades or more (Huey Long or George Wallace.)

Will the Democrats come back more to the center and focus on the average worker and their needs? Will the Republicans develop positive strategies to improve the life of the same group?

I will probably be dead in 8-10 years, but my grandchildren will be in late HS or early college. I pray for the world we will leave to them...

I've thought for a long time that the Democratic party strongly believes in certain people getting "their turn" and they stick to that no matter how many negatives the candidate has.

I agree with the desire to do something positive about immigration. But please note, DJT actually DID try doing something about it his first term but was opposed violently by the left every time he did or even said anything. What'd he ask for for the wall? I think it was around $5billion but that was deemed by the left to be far too much. But they had zero problems with sending $64+billion dollars to Ukraine which really hasn't benefitted the U.S. like a wall on our southern border would have.

We need a Trust-Buster. That's not who we got.

Just rambling on a bit on what history says about the future.

Paul Volker began to attack inflation in 1980 and eventually got it in control along with starting a long recession. I mean a real difficult jobs and spending recession. Before that Nixon attempted to to use wage and price controls in the early 70's to slow booming inflation from the Vietnam war. That never worked.

Biden should have known better and made efforts to understand the impact on consumers and at least attempt to use his leverage to contain it.

Trump isn't near that intelligent about it. He will see latent inflation explode with his tariffs. A recession follows as night follows day and he will be blamed. He wanted the job and doesn't understand that part of it at all.

Not saying that Kamala would have done better but she would certainly have consulted others.
