We definitely need clarification regarding the possible move to Guatemala as well as the order. Surely someone noticed the mistake (if there was one). Was it corrected? There has to be a reason that virtually every media outlet states that he's protected from being sent to El Salvador.
I would chalk it up to laziness.
The document I saw (Respondent's Memorandum) says El Salvador. Maybe most journalists are taking the word of Garcia's lawyer.
This is a case when showing your sources (unless they are confidential, which I get) is a really good idea (especially in on-line journalism, where hyperlinks are possible). I have read the Oct 2019 withholding order, which clearly stated "Guatemala." I have not seen a correction which states "Guatemala El Salvador." It may be out there, but nobody is citing that document.

The most important part is that the government (DOJ) has never disputed the fact that “not allowed to be deported to El Salvador”.
The government has agreed that they deported him to Salvador by error:
"But in court papers filed Monday, the government admitted that "on March 15, although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error.”

Trump: "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."

Republicans: Americans need to have fewer things. Increased prices due to tariffs are good for us. These things must be true because Trump said so.

Does anyone actually believe this? (Not necessarily rhetorical. Please respond and explain if you think Trump's right.)
Given he knows nothing about business EXCEPT "I'll declare bankruptcy," I'm gonna go with "no." (Even his constant apologists who say "but bankruptcy can be a business strategy," well, in some cases what he's done is: a) declare bankruptcy; b) change the name of the company because of bad press; c) declare bankruptcy with THAT company.

Setting all that aside - tariffs are horrific economics, to the point even in my small Mississippi school, the conservative US History and Economics teacher taught us that tariffs were such a bad idea that nobody would ever be stupid enough to try them again. I'm so glad he's alive to see how wrong that prediction was, and I love the guy.

My god, even Richard Nixon and Warren Harding wouldn't have gone here.

The president also downplayed fears of a recession
Where have I heard this one before? Oh yeah, now I remember....

President Trump said he was averting panic by downplaying the threat of the coronavirus

and spoke of potential successors when his four-year term ends in an NBC interview.
Rick Wilson has been saying from the get-go that family is going to turn the GOP into their fiefdom, with Trump Jr and then Eric and Ivanka taking the wheel. And he's not exactly Dick Morris when it comes to wild predictions.

Having said that, Trump has few political instincts at all. A politically astute President works behind the scenes for his favorite but always comes out the winner. Yes, Reagan wanted Bush in 1988, but he refused to answer anything prior to that, first because it makes his authority less and second because if Bob Dole or Jack Kemp won the nomination, he had to look like it was what he always wanted.

It's a damn shame Marco Rubio sold his soul for what could have been a healing Presidency after the nonsense of the GOP the last decade.

Tariffs do have their place however trump is mostly clueless about where that place is.

Trump says he’s willing to delay TikTok ban again

Trump has already delayed a TikTok ban twice, and he said Sunday that he’s willing to do it again.
Axios reports that during an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trump said that if a deal isn’t made to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations to American owners before the current June 19 deadline, he would grant the company another extension.
What's he waiting for, either do it or move on. Why waffle again?

President Donald Trump says he is directing his government to reopen and expand Alcatraz, the notorious former prison on a California island.

In a message on his Truth Social site Sunday evening, Trump wrote that, “For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

“That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders,” he wrote, adding: “The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.”

The prison was closed in 1963, and Alcatraz Island is currently operated as a tourist site.

I still would like to see the source for that. So far, all I have seen in primary documents is a withholding order for Guatemala.

If DOGE was really about saving money nobody with a brain would propose reopening Alcatraz. It was closed because it cost a fortune to maintain in 1963.
Closed on orders from his HHS Secretary’s dad.

Reopening it is a stupid idea even for Trump. It cost way too much to operate and renovating it to where it would be serviceable as a prison would cost way too much money. It is doing fine as a tourist attraction.

Building another ADX Florence style prison would be more cost efficient.

I get Garcia had due process and should be deported. But why is he in prison? Deported illegal immigrants are not just returned to their emigrating country?

I still would like to see the source for that. So far, all I have seen in primary documents is a withholding order for Guatemala.
