Trump's Tariffs and Possible Trade War

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

The picture on the left is purposefully cropped to cut out that he was talking about using tariffs rationally and not agreeing to an X amount Tariff one day and then saying it's Y amount the next.

That would ruin the Joke/Narrative though with actual context.

I hope that Canada and Mexico use the next 30 days to diversify their dealings to the other countries and try to get as far away from dealing with the US as possible.

I'd be more than happy for the world to join together to turn the US into a 3rd world dustbowl because we'd deserve it.

I just have zero tolerance for Bullies.

Trump is a Bully and the US has been a Bully for a long time and maybe always.

Karma eventually comes knocking and we as a country have a hell of a tab due.

Fair enough but why wish harm to come to our country?

We'll have to agree to disagree about our country being a bully.

Trump is just exercising his mandate. Doing what he campaigned on. I understand it's a little upsetting to some. But I truly believe he wants the best for our country. I also don't think he's trying to cause harm to other countries. In his mind....he's basing things on business not so much politics. Many do not and will never understand.

And BTW...I don't agree with how he handles many things but if it gets us to a better place.....well.....

The whole thing has touched a nerve with me.

I have several friends who are Canadian and Canada has long been one of the US’s biggest allies and they are hurt and upset by what’s going on and my empathy is with them on this.

They’ve not done anything to deserve the US pushing them around.

I know it’s a meme’d stereotype but in my personal interactions with Canadians they are some of the friendliest and kindest people and it’s very upsetting who we are now.

To me ends do not justify means.

Mandate? Really?
And you've never come across as an "end justifies the means" kind of guy, Baaza, but I guess I could be wrong.

The mandate came on 11-5-24. Until the dems figure out that their platform this past election cycle was garbage, they will never be successful. When you replace a horrible candidate with another horrible candidate and then choose a worse VP candidate go figure.

It was a loss, not a mandate. Not even close. If the economy had been better, Harris would have been elected running on that platform. Not that it was perfect, but to claim that it was garbage betrays partisanship rather than reality. The Democratic problem is communication as much as anything else.

When you played the world policeman since WWII because alot of other places around the world can't responsibly regulate themselves, you are going to make some enemies.

I just wished if we were going to stop Russia from invading Ukraine we should have found some Russia satellite countries to occupy like Cuba, Kalingrad, Transinitra.

My fear is tariffs just invite China and Russia closer to our borders in Mexico and South Central America. Why not dislodge Maduro from Venezula? By importing more goods on a conditional basis.

I'm still waiting for China or Russia take interest in rebuilding Haiti in exchange setting a base there. They are ripe for the picking.

I get that you absolutely do not like me or my posts so please feel free to put me on ignore.

If you want to debate my comments or ask me to elaborate on why I feel the way I do that’s fine.

But that’s just a drive by insult.

I’m by no means saying the US hasn’t done some crappy stuff, but compared to major world powers before us we have been incredibly kind. Human nature being what it is the US has done pretty well.

I'll be the first to admit, running a complete moron like Harris is bound to affect your communication. Having said that, I think the Dems' problems run much more deeply than putting stupid people in office who can barely string together 2 coherent thoughts. Making matters worse is the fact that Dems have been counting on most of the mainstream media to drag them across the finish line, but that's hard to do when public confidence in the media is at historic lows.

So yeah, the messaging kinda sucks right now, but I feel like a genuine attempt to win back the blue collar working class is your best bet. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to knock off a lot of that silly woke virtue signaling. The majority of Americans simply don't care about this crap, but if you can convince them that you know how to put more money in their pockets, you won't need tone-deaf, idiot celebs to tell them who to vote for.

Until the Democrats can get re-engaged on kitchen table issues they will keep losing elections. Most people dont care what their neighbor is doing in his home and they dont really want to know.

The nation rejected their vision and reelected one of the most controversial guys ever to run for office. I would say it was a repudiation of the Democratic platform. The problem is what they were trying to communicate about was something the American people rejected. That includes their immigration policy, economic policy, and social policies at it relates to the so called “woke” agenda. I know people define that last one in many ways but normies dint want it.
