Emerita Hortman, John Hoffman shot in their Minnesota homes

Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in their homes by a madman who apparently posed as a police officer — and who is still on the loose, according to reports.

Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman was shot in her Brooklyn Park home, while fellow party member Sen. John Hoffman was targeted roughly 8 miles away in Champlin, sources told 5 Eyewitness News.

A third victim was also shot, according to reports.

A manhunt is on for the suspect, who was wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants.

The violence began around 2 a.m. in John Hoffman’s home, BNO News reported.

He and an unidentified woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect then moved on to Melissa Hortman’s home, according to the outlet.

The suspect is a white man with brown hair wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants, and he may be impersonating law enforcement.

Listening to former Minnesota Governor Pawlenty, one thing that struck me . He said ‘ This is not who we are as Americans’ . But, this is exactly who we are. Any American that pays attention could see this coming. Political debates have become life or death arguments on both sides.

I was unable to watch press conference. Sounds like they found Hortman while doing a wellness check after the first shooting. And the guy escaped on foot? Or is that incorrect?

Something connecting these two . ? After Hoffman was shot, police knew immediately to go to Hortman’s house where they were obviously a few minutes too late. Prayers for all involved

Did anyone watch the presser? I didn’t get to, but someone posting notes on Reddit said the person who spoke after Walz said the officers responding to first scene recognized it was a Democratic lawmaker and did a wellness check because the knew the 2nd lives nearby. Also said they arrive while it was in progress at second location and exchanged fire with the guy and they think they have a name.

Yeah 100% sounds like they know who did this. My guess is he didn’t have a mask on when the police caught him in the act and they got it on camera

That’s correct, I caught the end of the presser. I just don’t know why they would go to that one lawmakers house. Other than proximity. The Minnesota legislature is in special session, with supposedly both houses evenly divided Dems/Rep. perhaps Removing one Democrat from each house changes the balance? The special session was called to approve the state budget . There was one controversial portion of the budget -

. The special session includes addressing the budget for health and human services, education, and taxes. A controversial bill to remove undocumented adults from MinnesotaCare was also part of the budget compromise
I for one am tired of this. We are too divided as a Nation/State/city/county.

I've already posted above that he flipped control of their senate. The Democrats had a one vote majority. IDK what their replacement mechanism is but it's notable that a Democrat, Walz, is governor...

Supposedly they are in the middle of a special session to pass budget that GOP stuck several controversial items in like removing immigrants from Minnesotacare
