U.S. Postal Service Wants to Stop Saturday Delivery

Not going to happen, they get a lot of money off that bulk rate junk mail. I think the "don't send me junk mail" lists have hurt them. They need to raise the rates on that stuff. With as much as they have to deliver, they could make a mint off it.

it wouldn't bother me at all if they did. i never check the mail on saturday anyway. unless i am expecting a movie from netflix and i have nothing better to do that night.

I once complained to the local postmaster about all the junk mail I receive and got a quick response that it is a critical source of income for the USPS. In short, they can't survive without the junk mail postage.

They're finally doing their part to help save the humans' fragile ecosystem. I, for one, applaud their efforts.

I also thought the USPS got privatized several years ago. IE...the g'ment sold it.

In July of 1971 the US Postal Service was set up as an independant agency of the US government by President Richard Nixon.

I don't mind junk mail. It's easy enough to throw it away. I simply want my mail to be delivered when it arrives at my local post office, not four days later.

I get very little really useful mail anyway. Mostly it's bills from particular vendors that for one reason or another I've chosen to not change to electronic billing. Some of what I do receive gets cycled through my shredder, while the junk gets deposited directly into the trash can without ever making it into the house.
Frankly, if the USPS chose to deliver only 3 days per week, the only difference I would see is a decrease in the walks to the trash can. :wink:
