Strength and conditioning being a hot topic, could we blame Cochran’s more straight line strength approach to training as being the reason our guys seem to pull kicks?
I have no opinion one way or the other and no experience to make a guess, I was just curious if there could be some correlation.

Well, if Cochran had anything to do with our kickers performance, I for one am glad that he is in charge of the kickers at jawja... 😉

College coaching staffs haven't typically coached PK or punting technique. That's usually done by private consultants. Some exceptions here and there, but that's the predominant model.

Don't know if S&C for specialists is a school thing or a consultants' thing.

Either way, as much as I want Cochran's exit to be a plus for us, I'm not at all sure we can blame him for our past kicking difficulties.

It's June and I'm suprised Delong hasn't announced he's transferring by now.
Yeah, I feel bad for the kid. It's a mental thing. Apparently, he does fine in practice, but can't translate it into real games.

That said, it's not a feel-good thing. There are 84 other players, plus staff and administration that are affected by poor performance. He's used up his chances. It's time to perform or be a true student.

It wasn’t about him teaching technique. I was referring to his approach at strength which seemed to come at the cost of injury to players at other positions. I was curious as to if his approach, which resulted in multiple ACL tears across our team, might have something to do with creating an imbalance in the muscles kickers used in kicking. There’s no denying that even after improvements in coaching staff with regards to kicking technique there were still issues. The only constant through those years would be diet, and strength training.
