Trying to understand why he isnt getting more carries?...Yes, he is young but from what ive seen and i know it was La-monroe, he is very capable of running the ball. If KD is struggling why not give him a chance!!!...Love Shula but question some of his coaching calls!..If you look at the box score USC struggled running on ARK in the 1st half, then decided to open it up and throw in the 2nd, and oh ya BLEW them out!!...Same as we would have if we had gone to the passing game to openm up some running lanes since it was obviously working!!!

I was hoping for a balance of Darby-Johns-Upchurch carries. But so far it's mostly all Darby, little Johns, and hardly nothing anyone else.

If the trend doesn't shift for Florida, it will mostly remain this way the entire year. (Except if there are more injuries).

I agree. Upchurch is too much of a talent to waste being left on the bench and on special teams. We need to give him at least one series a game at least for the sake of resting Johns and darby. Nonetheless, I am not the coach, and if coach Shula thinks otherwise, I will respect that decision.

I know Upchurch has alot to learn, but i like the burst of speed he shows when he hits the hole!...why not give him a shot in the game on a toss sweep..he has great speed and may be able to get to the corner better than johns or darby...just my thought!

I'm sure that he probably needs polishing on his pass blocking. Most RB coaches demand that as a prerequisite to getting more time.

That's one of the reasons that young talented runners (even Alexander the Great) don't get more plays.

Thank you...finally...football 101

If you're youg QB has time to throw, you will have a better shot at being successful...if your running back is inconsistant at best, then your QB will get creamed from time to time and you will go backwards at best. If you put in JJ or RU when it's a running play...that is called a "tendancy" which is a nice way of saying "you're predicable"...unfourtunately even if your best bocking runner is in a slump, you still have to run him even if you'r pretty sure he's gonna get stuffed...but who knows, your guy in a slump, who is in reach of the school rushing record, could break loose at any time...that is called a "perk". Now I haven't paid too close attention to RU and JJ blocking abilities so I could be eating some crow here but I do know that Tim Castille is a hard N&S runner and is a good blocker so my question is why wouldn't he get the carries if we were going to take some away from KD? At least with him the defense doesn't have a good idea if we're going to run or pass right away...and if they do..Tim can make the extra yard or two.

I'm going to have to go with IH8Orange and Willis on this one. He must not be doing enough in other areas of his game in the staffs eyes' to warrant significant PT.

That's gotta be the reason. Very similar to Su A. his freshman year.

Though this would be a nice weekend for a 200+ yd game by a young RB..:)

Maybe Deja Vu all over again??:biggrin2:

Wouldn't it though!!! If by some crazy chance that were to happen, I think it would be a long long day for the Gators!!!

Finally! Someone that understands that there is more to being a RB, than just carrying the ball!

JJ = not too bad, but not as good as KD. RU = not too good, but improving.

I've wondered this myself. Maybe the coaches don't think TC can get to the LOS quick enough?.........Just guessing here.
