UT and pitching

Things are getting really interesting as we come down to the last weekend of conference play. Perfect scenario for the Tide to win and have momentum going into the postseason. Roll Tide!!!

Well, while I like your optimism, it boils down to this, LSU or UK lose 2/3 and us win 2/3 Or them win 2/3 and us sweep. Bottom line is we need to win 1 more game than either of those 2 teams or they are in due to tie breaker. They are playing the 2 weakest programs in the conference this year in UGA and MSU. I think the best we can hope for is MSU as UGA seems to be pretty punch less at this point.

I was hoping we would get a break down on ut on this thread.Any idea what we can expect with them?

Either JoJo or DT can do that for ya. When DT comes out with the series at a glance, that should give ya what you are looking for. It should be a pretty even series, but I think we take 2/3 even at Tennessee (as bad as we have been on the road this year).

Here is a quick glance in SEC games only:

Batting UA .292 UT .279
Pitching: UA 6.37 UT 7.01
Fielding: UA .977 UT .976

Overall it seems that it will be real tight, just a matter of who is playing better at the time. We are coming off a series win versus a quality team, and they are coming off a series loss versus a quality team. Bottom line is, we need help to get in. I think a sweep is almost a must for us to get in.

I have to think that those splits would look a lot different if you broke them down on a home and away basis, and unfortunately we will be on the road. Even if we were playing at home I would not give us much chance of a sweep. Just have to do the best we can.

I understand, I just simply pulled them from secsports.com. Took a grand total of 5 minutes at best. It gives an overall idea.

Zona I'm just messing with ya. You seem like a tough sell which is fine. I now you disagreed with Gaspard's hiring, but lets rally together and take what we have now. If they are still in this shape in 3 years as bamabaseballfan says, it will then be time to make a change then but until then (and I know you support the team) lets be a little more positive :tongue:. Gaspard might actually turn out to be a great coach. He does have a decent history as a coach at some not so super baseball schools.

I hear ya, CK. Hadn't checked the board during the midweek. Regardless of what I think of CMG, we're on a bit of a roll to end things and I hope we can pull some magic off in the postseason.
