I hopped over to Volnation to read about a rumor I heard and read some of the posts.. It was like watching one of those dumb movies or tv shows that for some reason you can't quit watching. It was almost so comical I couldn't stop...

Here's some of their drivel with links...

"After these next 2 recruiting classes, no one will come within 2 touchdowns of us..."

Granted, they are recruiting well and playing great right now, but so did we first year under Shula. I have to listen to their crap all the time as I live right in the middle of them all...

He's going to have them competiting at this rate. The question is, can he stay out of trouble, both between his words and his actions.

I foresee a few pretty good years for UT, 8-9 wins/year probably, maybe even 10 here and there. However, after these few good years, I expect there to be a major organizational issue at UT, due to Kiffy's lack of respect for everyone. This will be ingrained in his players and coaches, and UT will crumble.

UT and MSU are definitely looking like programs on the way up. Also, Arkansas. Ole Miss honestly looks like they are going to be back around the competitive level David Cutcliffe got them to with Nutt. So they likely aren't going to be title competitive, but they will be a tough game. UT and Arkansas could get up to conference title competitiveness while MSU is likely going to move up to a solid bowl-eligible team.

Lane is a ..... just like the OLD BALL COACH used to be when he first came onto the scene. But I think the difference between now and then is that Spurrier had a system with superior talent that teams had never faced before. Lane does not have either one of those. Plus in my opinion the coaching in this league today is far better than it was in those days.

Supporting the vols here in arangeland is "getting on the Lane Train". They even had T shirts printed to that effect -- surprisingly, not all vol fans have but one tooth and IQ to match so most of them went unsold. Of course, with Mr. Kitten's penchant for falling afoul of officialdom, it should now be "getting on the Lame Train"

Competing is the key word...the coaching talent in the SEC is insane. Right now BAMA, LSU & UF are in the best position to dominate their respective division rivals, but when you look at where the UTee is, they are in the mix with AU, Arky, OleMiss, & UGA, and occasionally USCe, in battling it out trying to knock off the top 3 in order to get to Atlanta every year. Its not going to be easy as long as Saban is at BAMA, Meyer is UF and Miles is at LSU.
In other words, they might as well be happy with 8-9-10 wins every other year, because thats probably as good as its gonna get for any of them, imo. And no, I'm not predicting we're going undefeated every season, but what I'm saying is the Top 3 are not standing still either. It remains to be seen, but Kiffin's resume does nothing to suggest he's going to reach the pinnacle any time soon.
Compete? Yes, but sooner or later, it won't be enough. IF, Meyer does leave UF, I could see UTee gaining a stronghold on the east division, because Richt/UGA is slipping fast. But I think it would take something like that for UTee to get beyond the level they are currently within the SEC.

They lose a bunch all over the field after this season. Hardesty, Berry(prolly go pro) + 2 more in the secondary, their best LB, BOTH DE's, their best QB Incrompatent, 3 off the OL including their 2 best in the Sullins twins-one of which is the center, and there are more but that is the most significant players off the top of my head.

TN......2010 SCHEDULE
Sept. 4 (To be determined) I am assuming cake walk game here
Sept. 11 Oregon.....loss
Sept. 18 Florida....loss
Sept. 25 UAB....win
Oct. 2 at LSU....loss
Oct. 9 at Georgia....either way
Oct. 23 Alabama....loss
Oct. 30 at South Carolina....either way/ prolly a loss
Nov. 6 at Memphis....win
Nov. 13 Mississippi....either way/prolly a win
Nov. 20 at Vanderbilt....win
Nov. 27 Kentucky....either way

4 sure losses and only 3 sure wins

GA gets it's D together they have the talent to beat them nxt yr....SC only graduates 9 and Norwood the only key player, Snead will probably come back for another yr at Ole Miss yet they lose a ton on offense so I will give this one to TN, KY loses a lot of OL but many key players return ALL their RB's and Hartline will still be there should be a good game between 2 mediocre teams.

They way I see it TN's outlook for nxt yr as a whole is 5-5 with 2 toss ups that could go either way....they will be fighting for bowl eligibility all yr.

TN could very easily be 2-5 after playing us next season.

I somewhat agree. I could see them having anywhere from 2-4 wins when we go to knoxville next year. Speaking of that, Knoxville is not a bad drive from here. How hard would it be to get tickets for that game?

if they have two wins, you may have people paying you to take their tickets ;)

I must protest over this statement. Shula took a 10 win team with seventeen returning starters and went 4-9. Anyway, I don't blame UT fans for being excited right now. They are looking pretty solid, and they are recruiting well. UT always has an easy schedule at the end of the season, so they could win out. Of course, I hope Ole Miss rips them a new one in Oxford.

Well they are recruiting talented players for sure. The determining factor of a 6-6 team versus a 10-2 team is the coaching. Monte probably is not going anywhere but the rest could. I see them being much better than 2-4 when they meet us.

Please don't put SOS in the same league as Lane Kiffin, SOS walked the walk and talked the talk, Lane just talks...and at least SOS' jabs were straight forward and mostly in jest, Kiffin is sarcastic and snide...and SOS didn't make excuses, Lane saying he didn't go for the win v Bama b/c he was afraid of another "magic flag" is one of the lamest things I have ever heard a coach say...

Yes the coaching in this league is much better now, back in SOS' era UGA was coached by Ray Goff, USCe by Brad Scott, LSU by Jerry Dinardo!?!?!

Heck, Rich Brooks and Bobby Johnson are doing decent jobs at UK and Vandy IMO...

Even bottom half SEC programs have very good coaches in Petrino and Spurrier and Nutt and Mullen doesn't look half bad...
