Ugh. Every year we seem to come out with some crazy new uniform idea that almost always sucks. This year is no exception. I blame Nike. Whether or not they had anything to do with the helmet design, they've foisted enough crappy uniforms on us over the past decade. At least the multicam one is decent.
Keep in mind that our AD is a Penn State guy whose official bio used to say that he brought a "Penn State mentality" to VT (insert bad sandusky joke here). We even went so far as to change the traditional "LET'S GO" "HOKIES" chant to "WE ARE" "VIRGINIA TECH" at one point. Fortunately the fans didn't respond to that one and it died pretty quickly. I have no idea who came up with this white-out concept, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he was behind it. And while it's for a good cause (all proceeds benefit Herma's Readers, a literacy charity that Coach Beamer founded), I just wish they could find a way to promote it while wearing all-maroon unis.
