The way Moore acted at the end I don't think he knows the definition of humble. We were there....the discipline and effort Vandy played with was better than Bama's. This wasnt a fluke, this was a well earned win. Key plays were well-designed, and we could not defend them...they went 12-16 or something like that on 3rd down for a reason. Hard work and coaching beat us today. I hope this humbles quite a few players..Vandy earned this.
And it isnt becos of their history losing to Bama.inexcusable is right.
This is the worst Alabama loss I can recall and I'm getting up there in years now. Losing to Vandy just isn't acceptable - ever...
BN, your entire post is on-point(s). My snipping of it should not take away a single point. I just didn't want to re-post the whole ... excellent ... post.... let me be a clear voice of BamaNation fandom today ...
... be excellent in all things....
... You/they/we may not like how this is phrased but it is a transactional sport now. Thus, TODAY is an important day for what is to come....
Yeah, but I could live with that.Even if this team wins the NC, they’ll always be remembered as the #1 team that lost to Vandy. Their legacy is sealed.
Yeah, only thing BN failed to mention was Vandy played with a mad on ‘cause ‘Bama outbid ‘em NIL-wise for a swing OL from Mich State (Geno VanDeMark) who they needed yesterday to move the pile and the LOS about as much as a fish needs a parasol to keep from getting wet.BN, your entire post is on-point(s). Well done, sir.
I would gladly accept this legacy.Even if this team wins the NC, they’ll always be remembered as the #1 team that lost to Vandy. Their legacy is sealed.
We can dream.I would gladly accept this legacy.
I tend to agree with what you are saying, especially that parity in college football has arrived, thanks to changes in the transfer rules and the onslaught of paying players. The SEC will remain a powerhouse though because of the lure to sign quality athletes. But, I believe we will see the consistently top SEC teams will shift to the Longhorns and even Oklahoma because those two teams have huge purses (oil money) that can and will outbid other conference teams. Let's face the music, we are going to struggle to successfully sign the best athletes. In fact, this shift has already begun. Today's cream of the crop athletes have little interest in getting an education: just show me the money. This may not be something anyone wants to hear, but it involves UT losing to the Hogs soon after taking delight in our loss as supporting evidence, so at least that’s something.
Our loss wasn’t a fluke as someone above said, but neither is three top 10 SEC teams losing to the unranked on the same week. As major college ball moves closer to the NFL model, this is going to become more commonplace. The days of a handful of teams dominating are beginning to fade, which certainly affects us to the negative. For any NFL fans here, there are very few truly surprising outcomes in the league. Most all NFL teams come into a game perfectly capable of beating the other on any given day. The parity there doesn’t allow for it and all the PTB in college have obviously wanted to institute it at any cost. It makes for a more lucrative environment that keeps more fanbases invested further into the season.
It’s happening faster than expected in the SEC, but the signs are beginning to show it in the Big 10 as well. There will be a day when a 3 or 4 loss national champion will be the rule, not the exception. It’s different, and it certainly rubs the shine off what used to make the college season so special, but this is what we have.
Today was bad, mainly because a bunch of top flight recruits have been trained to face anything but an offense straight out of 1954. Credit to Vanderbilt to implement a system that can leverage their deficit in talent to take advantage of it. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if this winds up being our worst defensive showing of the season because of it. Whether that means it’ll be our only loss is anyone’s guess.
Is your implication that the school is now so focused on excellence that it will expunge what isn't? Meaning the president and AD won't let the football team continue with the themes we saw against Vandy, or are you saying that the school better have that mindset, or risk a ripple effect across the institution?"This is the type of loss that, if the discipline and lack of focus issues are not corrected TODAY, will have much broader ramifications beyond athletics... There are no acceptable excuses. The process will happen or those not getting on board with excellence (whoever they may be) need to be processed."
If that's true then maybe losing is right and just. There’s a video online which shows Ryan Williams and a couple other players mimicking Vanderbilt and calling for a “light day” and score 150. in all my years of watching Alabama, I can’t recall such blatant disrespect of an opponent. This years team needs Mark Ingram, Julio, Mincha etc to set them
Straight. Might be over reacting but has DeBoer lost this team?
If true, DeBoer is at a significant crossroads in his coaching career. How he handles that kind of behavior at Alabama will take him down one of two paths. I hope he understands what hangs in the balance of his decision. There’s a video online which shows Ryan Williams and a couple other players mimicking Vanderbilt and calling for a “light day” and score 150. in all my years of watching Alabama, I can’t recall such blatant disrespect of an opponent.
