Genuinely interested in the opinions out there. What do we think of adding a "C" to the jersey?

I like it, as a way to honor a player who sets an example and to give guys an added goal to shoot for.

The only thing that gives me pause is that I have many fond memories of captains being named after the season. That's a Bama tradition and if you think about it, makes more sense than speculating who *might* be the leader before the fact.

Still, CKD says he's always done it this way and I'm all in on that. It's very cool in its own way.

So, what do we say?

What's next? White helmets??

I'm good with it, especially since it's the players that name the captains. They know who the leaders are, whether it's preseason or post.

I certainly acknowledge the tradition, and respect that, but I'm not clear on the "before the fact" part. What exactly is the "fact" based on? The season?

I agree that the players know who their leaders are long before the season ever starts. Can't see how that could be considered "speculating".

I was thinking that leaders can emerge during a season or presumed leaders can fall by the wayside as a season progresses. Picking them after the season is an honor based on proven performance instead of prediction. (I imagine the former is the model Saban probably preferred, because it sounds more like his general approach to everything.)

Still, it's a very minor concern and as I said, there are positives for switching to DeBoer's method. I'm embracing the change.

I don't like the C on the jerseys.

I think the captains should wear white helmets.
I'm going to start selling Orange ballcaps with a big red 'Bama A' at the stadium. Stop by to get your free cap....

What happens if someone wearing a C is or becomes second string? Obviously that person can still be a leader but impact could be minimized re not normally being in the game the majority of the time.

I love the idea because obviously that player wearing the C, has put in the work earning it, most important of all he's earned that respect as the team leader on the football field from his teammates & he should wear that C for being chosen as one of our team leaders with pride ..
