Wettest Game Ever Attended?

I'm not sure you remember the game correctly. It rained 99.9% of the game. The tornado's occured in the 1st half because the teams left the field for a while. It was nasty ALL DAY LONG but a great game. Don't forget Bo had a long run yes, but so did Bama's Ricky Moore. It was back and forth for most of the game.

Alan, it was a great game . . . and I could be way off.

But I remember the storm speeding toward the stadium but not arriving until late in the third quarter. Up to then, a howling wind at Auburn's back kept us pinned down. They kicked a couple of field goals but we held them out of the end zone. Still they took the lead. Enter Ricky Moore, untouched into the end zone following a great run by Kerry Goode. Enter Bo . . . and then the rain. It was more like a tropical storm.

I'll double check with my bro on how my recollection of events . . . But heck, he's older than I am. I do remember a nice Auburn couple had an extra poncho, or I swear I would have drowned.

Early to mid 80's, LSU vs. Bama at Legion Field. Sitting near the top and still standing in a foot of water.

1986, maybe?

I didn't get to make it to the game that year, but it was in Legion Field, and it was a close one. That was Shula's senior year, and we lost to LSU 14-10 because we kept fumbling the ball away deep in the red zone.

Had we beaten them that day, we'd won the SEC and likely been headed to either the Orange Bowl or the Sugar Bowl.

That sounds about right; I do remember losing. Had a similar experience in Crapville in 84-85; Bama led, the skies opened, and we lost a two td lead and we lost to the viles for the first time in umpteen years and I had to endure the downing of the goal posts, etc. That day sucked, and the guy who I was with and got me the ticket wouldn't stop for beer; I thought I was going to blow!

Roll Tide!

In addition to the ones already posted which were all monsoon type downpours, I'd have to include the 1980 Ala-UT game in Knoxville. It was a complete downpur from the opening kickoff through the end of the game and then some.

I'd vote for either the 94 Ole Miss or Homecoming 92 v South Carolina. I was one of the idiots with no rain gear standing out in that crap at the Ole Miss Game. And in 92 I remember it just a steady rain the whole game, plus it was cold.

This is all I remember from the 1994 Ole Miss game...

(2) 2001 Alabama v. Southern Miss. This was the week after we beat Auburn 31-7, and it was pretty big because we needed the win to get bowl eligible. I really had not planned on going because I had made the drive up to Jordan-Hare the week before, but I was in the area to visit the family and figured that I would go. Me and some friends parked, and it was flooding, and honestly it was just getting started. I remember thinking to myself, "If we lose this one, this is going to be the worst experience I've ever had at a 'Bama game." Fortunately we held on, but it was miserable. As a whole it wasn't as bad as the 1979 LSU game, but at times it was even worse, and it would come in as a close second. I bet the equipment guys had to throw out every uniform that was put on that day.

1997 - Homecoming vs. LaTech.

They were using portable lights because of the stadium construction and it was difficult to see anything through the driving rain. To make matters worse, we lost.

I was at both of these...drove in from the Nashville area for both of them...absolutely miserable weather! Went with 2 co-workers to that So. Miss game...it was amazing watching the drunk students slip and stumble down the stair that evening...saw many of them bust their a**!

1974 Birmingham Americans vs Florida Blazers. It rained all day and stopped about 30 min before kickoff...but it was a trick...somewhere in the 2nd quarter the rain started again and it didn't stop. I saw frogs searching for higher ground. The worst part was that we were on the east side and at times water would come pouring from the upper deck without warning or reason. We finally moved back under the upper deck a little and stayed there. It was a long wet ride back to Hanceville that night.

97 HC game against LA Tech. The Bama D never could find a way to stop Rattay (sp) from completing those short slant passes. Miserable day and a wet ride home.

Wettest game I've ever attended (probably coldest also):

2000 Seahawks vs. Chargers at Husky Stadium.

To make matters worse, alcohol couldn't be sold in the stadium, so we had to go back out to our boat at halftime to get re-liquored up before the second half.

Aint nothing like getting re-liquored up:)

Hands down it it the 2001 Southern Miss Game at Legion Field, because it never stopped raining until late in the 4th quarter.

At the 2003 Arky game, the rain and thunderstorm came up right before kick-off and delayed the kick off by about 45 minutes or so. After that, it was pretty much dry. The storm came in so quickly that we got soaked because everyone was headed to the stadium exits at the same time and it was a bottleneck. We just sat back down and waited for the game to start.

1) The 1979 Alabama v. LSU game in Baton Rouge. Some of the younger guys might not remember that one, but it was an absolute monsoon. That was probably the most ridiculous playing environment I have ever seen. We had seats about 35 rows up, and you really could not tell what was going on when the play ran to the far side of the field. It was an extremely low-scoring affair because of the weather, and we won 3-0 after McElroy hit a pretty short field goal in the third quarter. We put up a ton of yards, but really just couldn't get any points because you couldn't hang onto the football; I remember there were a ton of turnovers by both sides. That was actually Charlie Mac's final game against Alabama, now that I think of it, and they were really about the only ones who got close to us that year. Anyway, I was still a relatively young kid at the time, and I remember it took me forever to dry out. I'll never make the mistake of going to an LSU game in Baton Rouge without a poncho after that experience. And another thing some of you older guys might remember, I'm pretty sure this was the game where Major Ogilvie wiped out Coach Bryant on the sidelines on a running play.

I was at this game, it was raining so hard it was difficut to see the field. At the time, the LSU fans we knew told us "it never rains in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night". Yeah right! We were covered with a tarp and after getting competely soaked, we realized that the fans above us were filling their umbrellas with water and dumping it on us. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and we won the game after several missed field goal attempts!:cool2:

Liberty bowl vs UCLA,,,,,MID 70S ? .........CANT BELIEVE this'un aiint been mentioned

I put this in the wrong thread. Hint....it was cold.

That is something they do before kick-off at LSU games. The PA announcer comes on and says, "Chance of rain... Never!"

And for the record, all due respect to the LSU people around here, that is the single dumbest, most retarded, stupidest, idiotic, absurd, gay, ridiculous statement ever uttered. It rains so much in South Louisiana, thanks to the warm Gulf air, that it is nuts.

Saying it never rains in Tiger Stadium is about like an eskimo saying it never snows on the North Pole.

That was the 1976 Liberty Bowl.

As best I remember, that one was freezing cold. I don't recall there being any rain in that game, and I was at it. I know I'm getting older, but surely I'm not that far gone.

As cold as it was that night, it would have been snowing had there been any precipitation.

Oh, forgot this one, too: Alabama v. Ole Miss in Oxford in 1997.

Rains, tornadoes, and then my friend and I go to McAllister's after the game and the men's restroom is awash in rainwater, overflowing toilets and feces. What a day.

The 2001 So Miss was also one of my favorites I attended during my 6 seasons in college. You had to be die hard to stay out all game in that stuff. They didn't even bother to check tickets at the gate I went through.
