I didn't realize this thread existed. Shows you how much I know but as a Rock and Blues guy I know there are many genres of music with good songs. Biz Markie passed away very recently but most everyone knows his signature song.

I've been saying this for a while now.

Whether or not you accept disco, at the time it was a fantastic cultural resource for those who wanted to go out, mix it up socially, on the dance floor, or just a way to have fun with the funky sounds and lyrics.

A lot of our pop culture tends to go in cycles.

If disco ever makes a comeback - it would take something like a popular recording artist to lead the way - or at least get folks thinking about it.

Maybe this is it. Who knows? I just think it would be a winner on many levels, if it ever happens.....

Showing up a little late to this thread....But, all I listen to is Yacht Rock. Seriously. It's a larger realm of music than what is commonly known. I love some Steely Dan, Toto, Michael McDonald/Doobies, but I've "branched out" to some soft jazz, and artists like Jay Graydon and a non-jazz area that involves me listening to a lot of Alan Parsons Project.

Those great sounds of the late 70's and early 80's are my jam. Now, if I could just buy a nice boat to play it all on!
