The local opera company has been rehearsing in the park behind our house. Mozart's Marriage of Figaro and Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor.
Interesting. Lucia is a very demanding and challenging role for a soprano. Donizetti is famous for his mad scenes that require Lucia to display her full vocal range and control. Maria Callas gave Lucia somewhat of a rebirth in the 1950's with her performances. Incidentally she sang another Donizetti opera Anna Bolena in Dallas in 1957 which was recorded. It has an even more demanding mad scene.
God, I hated KC & The Sunshine Band back in the 70s. In about 1999 my company had them in as the entertainment at a big sales meeting and it was a helluva good time!
