We decided not to visit anyone or host an event this holiday - first time in a while we will not do either. My wife and I have been very busy lately, and lounging at home with mass quantities of good food and a long weekend of football on tv without having to play host is extremely appealing at present.

The menu: While we often fix traditional foods, we always add some extras - usually Vietnamese dishes for obvious reasons. This Thanksgiving we are really mixing it up. We are doing very little traditional and just preparing a range things we like. Because there will only be four of us (and my MIL doesn't eat much), we won't prepare the food all at once. We will do this on a rolling basis (like Lily's college admissions ;) ) and have a new dish created every couple of hours. It will be a day-long updated buffet of gluttony!

Lily requested matzo ball soup, so my wife is home making the stock as we speak. We'll start with that.

Then I'll grill some ribeyes. One of our commercial tenants also owns a butcher shop. If the steaks taste as good as they look, this will be my go-to place to get my carnivore fix going forward.

In the evening we'll steam crab legs and grill skewers of local Mayport shrimp.

And each main course will have a few side dishes. And Lan will make flan for dessert. She's also talked about making pumpkin and apple pies, but I think we'll have a leftovers-refrigerator space crisis even before this plan.

If I'm still conscious by the time the Egg Bowl rolls around it will be a miracle!

Where are you guys going and what will you eat? Hope everyone has a long and happy holiday weekend! ❤

What's your address??? Sounds like a good plan to me. I have to go visit the in-laws of my youngest son...they are nice but loud and vociferous -- besides being UGA fans. At least they will have the football games on the TV.

My oldest daughter and SiL live just the other side of Murfreesboro. They have a new house so we will be dining there having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It will be ham rather than turkey though. She told me she's never cooked a turkey and wasn't comfortable trying it out on Thanksgiving day.

I'm looking forward to everything except the drive.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Please be safe and responsible. RTR!!!

We have cooked PARTY Mix for 3 days. We start cooking for 30 in the morning at 0600. We take it to Barbara Ann's sisters at 11:00. We have enough food for any extras that might show up.
AND
We do it again for some unk. number on Christmas Day.

My wife, also a nurse, had to work last night. She gets off in a couple of hours and will come home and go to bed. My daughter, a CT tech, has to work today. I started cooking yesterday. Me, my wife, son and son-n-law will eat around 4. We will send food home with our son-n-law for our daughter. Happy Thanksgiving and ROLL TIDE!!!

Remaining family is in California and New York so just me and the younger son.
Rinderrouladen (beef rolls), kortoffelpuree meerrettich (potatoes w/sour cream & horseradish), rosenkohl in bier gedunstet (brussels sprouts in beer) and taramisu (yum)
Multiple servings of James Bond a la Connery.
A helping of gratitude and remembrance.

Attended my first church service last night in over a year...really enjoyed it. Then we had an oyster roast and shrimp boil afterwards...along with chili, etc. I saw people I've not seen in a long time...gratitude comes in many forms. Have a Happy and Grateful Thanksgiving however you do it.

We did our meal on Saturday because we’ve been cooking all week. We sell smoked turkeys, dressing, sweet potato casseroles, desserts, etc.

We were going to the in-laws but they have Covid-19 (unofficially, they won’t get tested.) Spreading here right now. So, instead, heading to my mom’s. Will get in the deer stand with my son about 3:00. He’s already killed a 9- point this season.

Heading to Orlando on Friday for Universal & Disney.
