This is the part that upset me the most

"Fulmer, who doesn't have to play in the state of Alabama until 2005, also said he feared his safety so close to Alabama's den. I don't blame him one bit. There's no telling what these fans might do."

Why do I get the feeling this guy has never been to an Alabama game in his life, except maybe when we played in the Independence Bowl against Iowa State a few years ago. I know we have some rabid fans but I seriously doubt if CPF came to Media Days someone would be dumb enough to do something to him.

if it would have been LSU, he wouldnt say that...if this thing was between Phattimus and LSU, 50,000 drunk cajuns probably would have traveled to Vile-ville and trashed the city Mardi Gras style

Glen Gilbeau actually used to cover the Tide

When he was a reporter for the Press Register here in Mobile and he used to diss LSU on a regular basis. I say he's right we need to get over all this crap about Tenn. With all the suits that have been filed I have yet to hear anyone say there was not something dirty going on. The fact that Fulmer was so underhanded about the way he went about it is the part that I don't like. Why not be a man and if he knew or had proof that Bama was cheating stand and face them. No instead he and the ncaa hid behind closed doors developing the case. The other part of this is what is he so afraid of and this is the question that's burning for most Bama fans if he's so innocent why won't he answer the questions. Again though I just wish it would go away it's distracting for our team and probably will make some kids steer clear of us.

The only thing that got me was the prediction of a 4th losing season coming up. :conf2:

That's when he lost all credibility with me. Could we have a losing season? Sure. Will we? I don't see how.

Even in this, our worst of times, our losing is cyclical - losing seasons in 97, 00, and 03. That pattern would have us not having another losing season until 06 (as if  ). But if you add in the last losing season before 97, the cycle gets longer. If you add in the last losing season before that one, well, you get the point . . . :rolleye2:

No surprise; some people just don't get it. Instead of doing a little research, this guy spouts off without thinking. Typical sportswriter. I look forward to the truth coming out, because some day it will. Its not going to make Alabama look any better nationally, because as you can gather from this particular writer, they already hate Alabama and that will never change. They hated Alabama back in the 60s; most of you know what Coach Bryant had to go through with that Atlanta paper (The Saturday Evening Post?). So, let them hate, let's just get back to winning, starting Sept. 4.

I have noticed a pattern from those who really come down on Alabama about all this Fillup no-show biz: they also predict a losing season for Bama, like the idiot from Florida  who was on PF Tuesday.

"But Fulmer is not the guilty party here, yet. Alabama is, no matter how much its lawyers blame Tennessee."

Yet another line showing his lack of research on the case. Alabama is not the plaintiff in this lawsuit Mr. Guilbeau!!

And as for Bama being headed for another losing season,,, I hope you enjoy eating crow because you'll be served a healthy serving of it in December for that statement.

I seem to remember threads...

...about this very topic. Would Alabama be smeared by lawsuits filed by those involved in the case, but no longer with the University. I guess we have our answer. But, then again, there was already a presumption of guilt, even though no money trail has ever been established.

If the same thing happened with say (since this article originated in Louisiana) LSU and the situation was reversed and whoever LSU considers one of their arch-enemies in football to be- their fans would feel the exact same way about the head coach of that football program. But all this talk about militant Bama fans just blares STUPIDITY. I can't believe any journalist with any knowledge of the situation would blame the Bama fans and not a subpeona for Fulmers absence at media days. Fulmer ratted on Bama, pure and simple and be it right or wrong, he's going to have to hear about it since he's no longer wrapped in the blanket of NCAA silence.

Out of all the articles I've read over the past couple of days regarding the Fulmer situation (and I've read a lot) the only 2 I've seen blasting Bama for it are Glen's and Stewart Mandel of SI. If I were Glen, I'm not sure I would want to be in that company. Stewie frequently doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good rant. Remember, he thought Bama should have kept Price, even after their own story about his antics in Pensacola.

All of the other articles have been blasting Fulmer at various levels of intensity, and questioning why he's afraid of a subpeona, if he did nothing wrong. There really hasn't been that widespread questioning, or blaming of the university for the suits-except among some rival fans. Most of the media seem to be responding to Fulmer's no show as a dis to them personally.

I wouldn't worry too much, thats just more jealousy from the rest of the SEC. Teams like UcheaT and AU need to just get it through their heads that Bama is the team of the South.

To my mind, the matter that Bama was guilty of certain infractions

is not important. I actually don't have a problem with Fulmer reporting infractions for that he has first hand knowledge. However, to me the central issue is that Fulmer and Jo-meier colluded and fabricated additional infractions which resulted in far worse penalties than the relatively minor infractions admitted to. He has no proof (obviously) but just hearsay and rumor. Seems strange to me that Fulmer's "evidence" was relied upon as reality whereas any number of individuals with first hand knowledge to contradict it were deemed unreliable. So, why would the NCAA believe someone with a clear conflict of interest who would benefit from Alabama's probation/loss of schollies, and whose own program had various questionable issues regarding academic compliance, payments to players, etc.?

In this case it was not Kill Bill but try to Kill Bama.
