I thought 10-2 winning one we shouldn’t (UGA) and maybe losing one we shouldn’t and one we should (UT or OU). Never in my life did I think we’d lose to Vandy

First year coach. It could have been better. I want see him coach a year with a throwing QB. Next year should be very interesting

Rarely, if ever, does a transition from a legendary coach to a new regime go smoothly. The new system has to adapt existing players to it, which is never ideal. The players have to adopt new policies and habits from the new staff. That's just the playing part..new coaches see talent differently, too...with these dynamics and the pressure of being Bama.i think 9-3 is about par...losses to Vandy ( who were better than expected) and OU...were very poor BUT beating UGA and LSU were good. Once Deboer gets his system and staff and players..then we shall truly get to see what he's made of.
Well said!😎

Going into the season, I felt like 10-2 was my expectation, and we'd make the playoffs as an at-large. That's probably wasn't a fair expectation given the circumstances, but I felt like we had the talent to get there. Finishing 9-3 with a chance at the playoffs isn't a bad result.

I didn't think we had any realistic shot at winning a national title this year, so if we miss the playoff or lose in the first round I won't be too disappointed. However, I can't really say that we've gotten better as the year has progressed and that's my hang-up. Regardless of inherited talent, we also didn't get better in Saban's first year, and actually regressed as the season went on. Therefore, I would grade the season as a B- and expect improvement offensively next year.

I'm still not convinced Ty Simpson can take Bama to the playoffs and win.
Well, so far, Milroe hasn't either.

The OU loss just baffles me. Don't kid oneself, this is not a good OU team and they didn't even have to try hard, Bama just laid down and let them have the win. Losing is not the "unacceptable" part, it's the not even showing up that is unacceptable.

I'm thrilled. With a new coaching staff, 1st year coaching in the SEC for a lot of the staff, new schemes on both sides of the ball, 40 players hitting the portal, tough SEC schedule, still managing to pull in a top-rated recruiting class, beat UGA, beat LSU, beat Auburn in the IB, possibly making the playoffs...

Yeah, I'm thrilled. Great job! I think the future is bright.

What do you think about 9-3 season? My preseason prediction was 9-3 with losses to Tennessee, LSU and Oklahoma. Didn’t see Vandy loss or LSU win. Good start for new coach, staff, and players.
I think that with a better quarterback this team could have been undefeated. DeBoer seems to be a decent coach but he lacked the courage to pull Milroe during the Oklahoma fiasco.

We defeated Auburn and this is great, but; a better team would have been more able to take advantage of Milroe's seemingly ever present poor decision making and turnovers.

He seems like a really nice young man but I hope that he declares for the draft. This appears to be a weak QB draft but the Iron Bowl win might propel him into round 2 or 3.

We need a new quarterback.

I think the game plan had a lot to do with why Auburn didn't do better on defense. We ran plays that were specifically designed to hit the TE over the middle, so anytime Auburn brought their LB's you could see JM look directly at the TE releasing from his blocking and sliding right in the empty space. I just wish this would have been done earlier in the season. But our TE's absolutely killed the middle of Auburns defense.

I thought 9-3 in preseason. We were lucky to hang on and beat UGA and USCe, except for a couple of plays at the end of those games we could have easily have been 7-5.

Probably would have worked against OU as well.

I think the most discouraging part of the season isn't the record and maybe not even the teams we lost to, though that OU loss is just killer, but instead the timing of the losses.

The 2 losses to bad/mediocre teams came when we were riding high. Vandy loss comes right after a huge win over UGA. OU loss comes after we seem to be on a bit of a roll crushing LSU and Missouri and have a clear path to the SECCG and Playoffs. Not to mention all 3 losses were also on the road. Both of those facts make you seriously question the mental toughness of the team as whole.

What I don't know is if that is a coaching issues, transition issue, or personnel issue. Out of all the options I hope it's not a coaching issue and not something that will continue.

Hopefully, we don't see the struggles on the road and vs inferiors teams after bigger wins moving forward. Hopefully, DeBoer just needs to get a few more of his guys and get his QB and we won't see these issues moving forward.
