I thought the exact same thing. Calling something new the same as something old is asking for trouble. If you're going to change, change. make it all new to avoid as much confusion as possible.I know this maybe crazy but how about not call something the same thing that meant something different the previous year.
Had this problem the entire time Tua was at QB.Just look at time of possession. When offense does well via explosive plays, which are nice, they are still basically putting the D back on the field. I believe TOP has been 50/50 only, pretty terrible given we've faced WCU, USF, Vandy, SC.
This is an interesting point. We're ranked 116th in offensive plays and ranked 109th in TOP yet some think our offense is fine because we're ranked 8th in scoring offense, but maybe the offense is not so fine.Just look at time of possession. This is my biggest concern. We are not playing physical defense. They’ve looked soft the last two games and that hurts deep down in my soul as a lifelong Bama fan.I see numerous problems with the defense. Lot has to do with a totally different defense than we had under Coach Saban, new schemes, philosophy, coaches etc. Growing pains if you will. But what I can’t understand is lack of fundamental tackling. Put the ball carrier on the ground. Light him up!!!
Some have called our offense elite. Elite offenses don't go three and out as often as ours. Neither our offense nor our defense can control the line. That will continue to present problems unless we figure out how to change it. I hope it starts this week. This is an interesting point. Yea, but Vanderbilt and South Carolina are not OregonYou think our secondary is bad. Ohio St's Denzel Burke was targeted eight times and gave up eight receptions for 180 yards. Ohio St got torched for 341 yards passing and 155 rushing by Oregon.
And Ohio St has had the same coach for how many years and the same system for how many years and still can't beat a top-ranked team? Kalen DeBoer has coached Alabama six games and has beaten as many top ranked teams with Alabama as Ryan Day has in his entire tenure at Ohio St.Yea, but Vanderbilt and South Carolina are not Oregon
He has a sweetheart gig right now. CFB coaching is the grind of grinds. On top of that he doesn't have to win every Saturday. Wouldn't be shocked to see him continuing to climb up the football analyst ladder. When Roman Harper tires of his commentator gig, I wonder if he'd consider taking a job as a defensive coach at Alabama...
Roman nails everything here but his analysis on the corner is a little off. If he continues to sink he leaves the hitch wide open in the flat and its an easy pitch and catch first down and probably more. The miscommunication definitely comes from the safety on the nub side and I'm shocked it wasn't a presnap automatic roll by them. The corner is over the TE and has no one else to cover unless the back comes that way. Him and the OLB could "banjo" those two and leave the other half of the offense to the rest of the coverage.
So I was right to the extent. I didn't think Malachi Moore was at fault, because he was in Tampa Cover 2 and He went where he was supposed to. It sounds like they were slow to react to that play.
Just play loose and fast. The defense gotta get better at that.
Downs was pretty unimpressive in the Oregon game. He didn’t look anything like a top 10 pick in the 2026 draft, as he was talked about while at AL.While I'm walking by Ohio St. Below are Caleb Downs' stats for 2023 and through 6 games of 2024. I'm not sure if it is any indication of how good he is doing but he will not get anywhere close to some of the stats he had at Alabama as a freshman.
