Question: When are we going to hear of any new commits?

Patently Bama

It has been awhile since anyone publicly announced their commitment to Alabama, so when are we going to start hearing of some new names?

I realize and agree that the coaches have their own way of doing things and that they know better than I do but it seems as though nothing has happened in quite awhile.

Usually by this time in the process there is a feel as to whom Bama closes with, as of now I have no idea for this cycle.

The unfortunate consequence of all this early recruiting announcements. We are all conditioned to the commits coming out in December leading up to signing day. Now........all the air is let out of the balloon early and we are all left a little flat this time of the year. As mentioned, the big dogs will walk late so that means we'll be waiting. I hope we finish strong. We'll see.

Bama's 2011 class is nearly full. Look at where the coaches visited the past few days. For example Kirby Smart was in Pratville Monday visiting Caleb Gulledge a 2012 commit. Right now they're pretty much putting a bow on this years class. The actual process of recruiting for 2011 is almost over. It's time to sit back and wait.

We have around 4 spots remaining. These spots will probably be filled by some of these prospects:

Cyrus Kouandjio, Xzavier Dickson, Jadeveon Clowney, Isaiah Crowell, Malcolm Mitchell, Xzavier Ward, Antonio Richardson, Dee Hart, Aaron Douglas, Leon Mackey.

From what I've read and heard Bama is looking for an Offensive Tackle, Defensive End/Jack Linebacker, Running Back and maybe a WR/DB. We might get a commitment at one of the All-Star games but most of our remaining targets are going to announce on NSD.

Technically UA has room for 9 more in this class. They can sign 25 to come on campus by fall and sign and place 3 more that would grayshirt and arrive in spring of 2012.

One problem in determining how many to bring in is not just on what seniors are on scholarship but who will go ot the NFL ealry. A number that is in the air right now of who may go. I have seen atleast 7 juniors that have been mentioned that could leave. Also juniors that are graduating in the spring but are not contributing much might get replaced. Something that has happened the past few seasons. They redshirt, play 3 years, get their degree but do not see the field much so why keep them around. So we have no idea at this point how many we may take.

If the right 9 come along we will make room for them, but if not may bring in less.

Last night on Tider Insider TV they said 4 more spots so thats why I used that number. You may very well be correct. We'll just have to wait and see. Everything at this point is pure speculation. There are to many variables.

They are basing that number on Seniors graduating and early entries to the NFL. Plus how many we actually signed last year for open spots left.

One thing you will learn around here is no one knows for sure and not sure how much you have followed UA recruiting but CNS does not like to share that info either. He has gotten upset about it when and has told reporters it is none of their business. Which makes this time of the year fun because it is all specualtion at this point and only him and the staff know. Between now and NSD every writer will try and speculate how many more we sign. Just look up the threads from last year.

Not an insider, but I hear Malcolm Mitchell, Xzavier Dickson, and Chris Casher could be the next players to join the fold. Also look for the JUCO LT Aaron Douglas to sign with us or USC(W) before the spring semester begins. Think he's the reason why C. Carradine and Demetrius Hart could not Enroll Early, but that's just a guess.

I think we could take up to three RB's this class depending on the circumstance, especially once you consider that we're recruiting Jeremy Hill to be the big back to replace Mike Marrow. If we don't sign Hill, I think Jalston Fowler stays on Offense and we take Hart and Crowell.

JMO, but no way we end up w/ 3 RB's in this class. 2 would be great though!

From everything I've read, I don't think there's room for three true RB's. If we told Hart he couldn't early enroll, I have to think we are being very selective with our remaining spots. Hart is currently one of the best All purpose backs in the country. In all honesty, he is tailor made for Rich Rod's offense.

i have posted new info on hart if you cant find it ill post it again on here. for starters i believe he is a silent or private commit, he can be utilized in our pro set just as well as a spread can utilize him. i believe he is silent or private so he doesnt scare of crowell or hill. if you dont believe me and wish to set me straight please do but answer two things. why would the orlando sentinel and his highschool list him as a bama commit for the roster of the AA game? and why has he been recruiting for us if he was not planning on coming to bama?

From all the recent interviews he's done, he has mentioned Alabama exclusively. He is as loud of a silent commit as you can get. Can't wait to see him play in crimson.
