I like a hotdog every now and then. I’m pretty simple with the condiments, yellow mustard, dill pickle slices and chili (sauce in Ohio). Where is a good place to get a hotdog that IS NOT a chain restaurant?

Jacob's Java in Marietta Georgia. Chicago Dogs, Chilli Dogs (Chicago Chilli), or anyway you want it. Also Polish dogs. Also, also, Italian beef sandwich.

He also has smoothies (non dairy) and obviously coffee.

I love the ones I make at home.

OM all beef bun-length cooked in my toaster oven.

Paired with a fresh potato hot dog bun.

Garnished with yellow mustard and relish (sweet or dill).

Every now and then I will substitute cole slaw for the relish.

Yum!

As long as it's "all beef" I don't really care where it's from.

Bang for a buck, literally, is the hot dog combo at Sams. $1.50!

Never been there, but I see that the little shop first opened in 1947 by a Greek immigrant. I absolutely love venerable mom-and-pop shops. Even better if it is from an immigrant who has embraced the American Dream. Love it!
been about 26 years for me since I went. I remember it being great. Found it completely by accident.

Quite a few of Birmingham's historical landmark restaurants were started by Greeks, particularly barbecue. It's a fascinating study.

Also, to keep it on topic, Chris's Hotdogs on Dexter Avenue in Montgomery. Sitting at the foot of Goat Hill, it's been an institution for lawmakers for decades.

If you want one Chicago style and are in the Daytona area:

Chicago Dog
$6.59

Vienna All Beef Hot Dog on a Steamed Poppyseed Bun. Topped with Mustard, Relish, Tomato, Onion, Pickle Spear, Sport Peppers, & Celery Salt.
I go through Daytona periodically on the way to points south. I'll try to remember this place if I'm there around lunch time.
